-"Superboy"-

A Column by

Vigilante

Gravedigger Vigi here again, this time digging at the tomb of a more hidden treasure. Everyone knows the tales of the Superman movies, and the Lois and Clark tv series, and probably have heard of the birth of the new Clark Kent tv series. But have you forgotten the gem that lies somewhere between? The tv series created by the producers of Superman that took all liberties with the Superman timeline? Of course you haven't, and here is where the great show of "Superboy" lies.

"Superboy" started in 1988 following the story of a young Clark Kent, as he attended college in Capitol City in Florida while working on his college school paper. While not working on the paper, the young man Clark Kent would turn into the great Superboy to take on the likes of Lex Luthor and Bizzaro.

The first season of this series was rather forgetable, with bad villians and a rather disheartening Superboy. But with season two came greater villians, a VAST improvement of actor's playing Lex Luthor, and a show that fans of the Superman universe could grab a hold of. When I think back on the life of Superboy, I remember those great episodes with bizzaro. Though things were very cheaply done for the tv series, no show has had as much heart and emotion behind it. I actually remember wanting Bizarro to come on top because of the sympathy felt towards his character. Man...those were the days.

Now, "Superboy" is nothing but a memory. No tv repeats, no one even mentions this show when Superman is mentioned, and Gerard Christopher seems to have fallen off the face of the Earth. But here at Gyeah.com...the Entertainment Gravedigger leaves no stone un-turned. "Superboy" was a classic show, and will forever hold a place in my heart.

R.I.P. "Superboy"
