Do you ever meet those people where when you ask them about a movie, they just
say it was good? Then when you ask them what made it good, they sit there laughing like a
damn Cheshire cat and have the dumbest look on their face like they're being asked to
answer a True and False question with a third option. That my friends is the largest pet
peeve of mine, and I just have to get a few words off of my chest.
If someone values his or her life, then answering my question of
"What did you like about the movie?" with a "It was good" is not
something you want to do. This really has become a problem to me lately, but there are
several times I can think of this occurring. Recently, the horrible movie of Urban
Legend's 2 was released. So, I wanted to know what someone else other than myself thought
about it. So, I asked these girls who said they thought the movie was really good,
but when I asked them what made it good...they just laughed like a pair of damn hyenas. I
was about 5 seconds from slapping the ish out of Becky and her pal (not her real name).
But I found a way to contain myself, and moved on grinding my teeth. I wonder if it is a
lapse of mental cells that refuses to let people say something other than...it was good.
There are plenty of other things to say, "it was scary...I jumped when...blah blah
blah." Or, "the character's were well written and acted, I really felt
for..."
But no...That would be asking too much.
Finally, I got a review from someone in the newspaper up here at
Michigan State that gave this movie 3 out of 5 stars. Since his review is totally opposite
of mine, and recommended people seeing it. I had to read it. I read it, and noticed
quickly that this person went in looking for things that I would. YES, ALL IS NOT LOST!!
Of course, their opinion really was different from mine. I will never take advice from
them on a movie in my life, but I respect them now cause they had enough sense to back up
what they claimed...no matter how silly it was.
That's all you have to do people, that's all. Another time this
happened is when my best friends mother said she enjoyed "The Mummy". Now,
in case you didn't know this, "The Mummy" will be forever in the book of my all
time worst movies. So, I asked her. Why did she like it? She said, it was good. GOD
DAMNIT!!!!!!! I say that the acting in this are overly cheesy, and Brendan Fraser can't
act his way out of paper bag, the plot has more holes in it then a pre-teen's face (Let's
drive a car that wasn't anywhere in the movie, until the writer realized we needed it and
wrote it in), and let's not forget the oh so wonderful use of special effects over story.
All those opinions were backed by facts from the film, and what do I get in response...It
was good?!?! GO TO HELL!!!!
This same mother of my friend then goes to say that
"X-men" wasn't good, and seeing as how the world has gone to claim this movie as
number one comic to movie translation ever (and I totally agree) I had to ask her why she
said that. What was her response guys? IT WAS BAD!!!! I love people's very articulate
forms of word usage, but damn say something else?!? Was the detailed plot too much for
you? Was the story telling over action (which ALL comic books do seeing as how 80 of
comics are dialogue) not satisfying? Did you not like the way Cyclop's visor fit on his
head? SAY SOMETHING OTHER THAN IT WAS BAD DAMN YOU!!!!
So, if I ever see any of you. And I ask you a question about of
movie, or anything for that matter. I beg of you, please do not say "It was
good" or "It was bad". Because if you do, I am not responsible for my
actions. Also, the words "It made money" is not a suitable answer either. Why,
because it has nothing to do with why YOU liked the movie, and "Batman and
Robin" is in the top ten of highest grossing movies of all time. End of Discussion. |
