Remember
that friendly tune on the hit show "WKRP in Cincinnati"? You know you do, it was
a classic show that brought good laughs to many. Nowadays, however, the city of Cincinnati
is FAR from a humorous place. In fact, there is enough tension in that city to choke the
life out of God. Why you ask? Well I return you question with what building have you been
living under for the last few weeks. But since not everyone is as informed as most on the
news. Ill catch you up to speed. In April 7th,
a white police officer shot and killed a 19 year old black man named Timothy Thomas, who
fled from police officers trying to arrest him on 14 warrants, mostly for traffic charges.
Timothy was running away from the officer, and was also unarmed when the police officer
fired multiple shots in the back of Timothy Thomas. Thomas was the fourth black man killed
in a confrontation with police since November the 15th since 1995. Can we get a "Go
Cincinnati!!"? I didnt think so.
I was going to let this piece go on without being spoken about
here at Gyeah.com, but today in my IAH (Arts & Humanities) class
a young lady
said one of the most ignorant things Ive ever heard in quite some time. I hope this
young lady was just talking, and didnt truly understand what she was saying, if she
did, she is a lot less educated then I originally pegged her to be. Im not going to
say the womans name, because shes not here to defend herself, but she said
that Timothy provoked the police officer to shoot him. She continued on saying that the
people, who participated in civil rights movements in the south, also provoked the
beatings and defamation that they received. Yes, shes from this planet people, and
shes also managed to piss the hell out of Vigilante here.
Timothy Thomas provoked the officer to shoot him in the back and kill him? Really?!? A man
was afraid that he was going to be arrested, so he ran. Its human nature for people
to run when in fear, and hell in a city where 4 black people were killed by white
officers
Id run like fn hell too. The thing is its very possible
for the police officer to have shot the man in the leg stopping him from running. I mean
the Secret Service disarmed an armed man in front of the White House by shooting him int
he foot. Instead, he shot him, more than once I might add, in the back. So, let me get
this straight. This young woman in my class believed that Timothy placed a sign on his
back that had a bullseye on it with words above it that read "Shoot here
please?" Yeah, f***** right?!? There are plenty of ways to stop a man from running,
besides emptying your clip into his back. But according to my dear classmate, thats
what Tim wanted.
She also stated that the people of the south provoked violence.
Once again, this woman managed to show where she was coming from. Those people who
participated in the sit-ins and marches didnt break laws to get beat in the head
with billy clubs, and have their head blown the f*** off. They broke the law knowing that
they were going to be going to jail, a place they were willing and prepared to go. They
werent really breaking the law, because they were more than prepared to serve the
time for their crimes. They were just trying to bring the awareness to the people around
them. Unfortunately, the white cops of then are similar to the ones in Cincinnati (and
many other cities and states that dont get reported), crooked and willing to ignore
their duty to protect people. I guess breaking the law means you should be ready to have
your damn head blown off? Just throw jail completely out the window.
Heh, if I was in Cincinnati. I wouldnt be rioting stores and
businesses; I would be beating the shit out of the police force. The businesses
arent the ones who killed the man, the cops are. The cops are the ones who are
letting this officer go with a slap on the wrist. The cops are the reason that city is
about to become a breaking point for race wars. Put the blame where it belongs. Of course,
we cant get high enough to where the problem is rooted. Our great president says
''Certainly the president is a supporter of law enforcement,'' said Fleischer, in response
to a question of whether Bush supports the city's police. But ''the president is also
sensitive to the causes in the community, the problems in the community, that have created
the flash point that it has in Cincinnati,'' he added. He supports the law enforcement,
but he is sensitive to the community? The racist bastard doesnt realize he
cant be both at the same time. He supports the group of people that killed 4 African
American people in the last 5 years, but is sensitive to the community.
Supports
fully behind. Sensitive, understands their problems but doesnt really
back them. Wow, its good to see our president has the same mentality of the police
officers in the south during the Civil Rights Movement. We think what they are doing is
bad, but we wont do anything to help you guys cause they (police) have our
full support. I wonder which president my dear classmate voted for? Makes me afraid to be
raised in this damn country.
