X-Box Cometh!

A Story by

Vigilante

As you all may know, if you've watched any form of news in the last couple weeks, ol rich man Bill Gates has unveiled his new pet project to throw onto the mindless minions of the world. His weapon this time...the X-box. (A few pics below) My reaction to this unveiling...so.

I will say that the X-box without a doubt has the best looking graphics known to man, but for me thats just not enough. I'm seeing Microsoft making games for the X-box that look like the greatest games on Earth, but are the most boring games ever to hit a console. Why? Cause Bill Gates doesn't know a thing about Video Games. He's a computer hardware maker, who is jumping into a brand new field now. Sure Sony didn't know squat about games when they came out, but they had third party devlopers to help them out until their games (which the majority of their first party games blow) were developed. Microsoft on the other hand is buying every third part company known to man, cause they know they have no first party games. That's a smart thing, but unfortunately in this day and age those games that are developed on their system are on every other system. Sure the games may look better, but the gameplay will be the same on the PC, PSX2, Dreamcast, and Gamecube which you either already own or can get for a much cheaper price than you can shell out for the X-box. So why buy a $400 system for rehash? And X-box exclusives? Munch's Oddysee? Sure the originals were great, but is that game really enough for you to shell out $400 dollars? I don't think so.

People are going around, already claiming the death of the PSX2, Dreamcast, and Gamecube because of this system. Am I the only person who saw a different unveilng. All we saw people was a box, a controller that resembles the Dreamcast and Gamecube together (Bill Gates is known for stealing other people's ish...Windows anyone? Click here to see for yourself.), and no games. The reason anticipation was on for the PSX2, DC, and NGC is cause we saw games...how many normal people get excited over a box that looks like a set piece left over from the "X-men" movie? We saw some screenshots, and a box...a box. OOOHHHH MAN..I've got to get that sytem now. Show me some games, and a price tag around 150...then I'll get a little excited. Until then, this system lies on the level of 3D0 with Playstation third party support.

What's the next thing I hear....man X-box is going to sell because its going to be so heavily pushed. You're kidding? I didn't know that. But you people act like Sony doesn't have money out the wazoo as well, so they will be pushing their system as well. And let me tell you, its a lot easier to push a 300 dollar system (which may be less at the time of release due to NGC's low price) that has a name in the videogaming industry than a 400 dollar system who's going at its first round in this industry. I mean honestly, if you already own a videogaming unit...would you spend 400 dollars on the X-box to get the same games you get on any system, broadband (I'm sorry people, I'm not that hard up for friends), and a nice little design? You can get the psx 2 for less, which has and will have even more great games for it, the NGamecube with titles people know and love, online play, a very resonable price tag and the option of if you want dvd or not (YES an actual videogaming UNIT), or a Dreamcast which has online play and I'm told good games (I haven't seen them). So can someone please tell me whats so hot about the X-box besides saying..."hehe..It looks good gawsh".

So, to the unveiling of the X-box I say, "Put it   back until you can give me a cheap price tag (Like Gates can't afford to) and a look at some games." Otherwise, psx2, pc, and Gamecube are more than enough for me. If ya smell...what Vigilante...is cookin.
