With all that has
happened in the world of sports over the past few
weeks you knew someone here at Gyeah.com would have to open their mouth, so here you go.
DALE EARNHART SR.: I never watched an entire NASCAR race nor have I
ever been to one, but I can attest to the fact that my dad used to make me watch some when
I was younger. You know how dads are with remotes! Dale was an icon, and that's not easy
to say coming from someone who totally despises NASCAR (unless its being played on DC or
PS2). I guarantee that you could pose the question, " What did Dale Earnhart do for a
living?" and 99% of the U.S. could answer correctly. Ask yourself if you can say that
about too many other athletes and the answer will be NO with the exception of maybe
Michael Jordan, Tiger Woods, and Joe Montana. I'm pretty sure my grandma could have even
answered correctly. Anyways, Dale will be missed by many and even those of you who weren't
effected have to admit how scary it is that one minute he's there and next minute he's
snatched away forever. R.I.P.
DIKEMBE MUTOMBO MPOLONDO MUKAMBA JEAN JACQUE WAMUTOMBO: Oh my god
flava! By the ton! I'm thinking about hookin' up on about four more names that sound very
similar to the first two and tackin' em on to the end of mine just in tribute to this man.
When the Hawks decided to trade him they could have at least traded him to a team outside
their conference so they wouldn't have to play against him. Instead they trade him the
conference leading 76ers, which had to piss the rest of the conference off because now the
76ers look invincible. If you don't think so, wait a couple weeks til Iverson and Dikembe
gel. So when post season play begins (when the NBA becomes worth watching) don't be
surprised to see Mutombo shaking the 13 inch victory finger at Vlade Doddy(Vlade Divac) in
the NBA Championship. Don't forget, you heard it at Gyeah.com first! JUWAN HOWARD: This whole deal was the first trade I've seen in a
long time that both teams may have actually come out ahead. Michael Jordan proved his
critics wrong by showing that Howard and his huge ass contract could be traded. The
Mavericks are a good team that's improving quickly. With the addition of a Howard (who is
now motivated and ready to play), Dallas will be a very tough team to play. The Wizards on
the other hand unloaded all kinds of tied up money by getting rid of a player that just
seemed to be going through the motions and has never really lived up to the hype since the
infamous "fab 5". The Wizards did gain several young players with a ton of raw
talent in Etan Thomas, Obinna Ekezie, and Courtney Alexander. The Wizards also got
Christian Laettner who doesn't really fit into the big picture but with his one year
contract he becomes good trading material at the end of the season. Still wondering how
Jordan came out ahead by getting rid of Howard? The Answer: All kinds of salary cap room!
Look for Jordan to go after some big time free agents in the summer of 2002.
TIGER WOODS: Hasn't won an event yet this year and people are all
talking about how he's "in a slump" or "what's wrong with Tiger?"
NOTHING PEOPLE!!!!!! Absolutely nothing! Not a damn thing! Remember, Tiger Woods is human.
Three or four months without a tour win is not a slump. 5 years without a win is more like
a slump for Tiger. Hell, most pro golfers would be doing better than they are now if they
won once every 5 years. Never count Tiger out, I'd take him if he was 10 strokes down
going into the final round......no joke!
GARY PAYTON: He wants the hell out of Seattle and they're actually
dumb enough to let him go. He was almost dealt right before the trade deadline and the
team pulled out at the last second. Is Seattle that stupid? Are they blind enough to not
see that Payton is the only thing that team has? Sure he's a little on the older side, but
look at John Stockton's geriatric ass (he'll probably play another ten years just to mock
my hatred of him). Gary is still the best defensive point guard in the league. He's a
floor general, the type you'd want to lead your team onto the court, and the one you'd
want with the ball at the end of regulation in a tied game. He should get a medal for just
playing on that loser Seattle team for the past 5 or 6 years. Of course he wants to go
somewhere else, somewhere where he can get a supporting cast and maybe get the ring he
deserves. Pay attention because I'm making this call first also, Gary Payton will be a
Toronto Raptor after the season. With Mark Jackson and Muggsy Bogues gone and Charles
Oakley probably hitting retirement soon, the Raptors should have enough money to
make a try for him........Vincanity + The Glove = Pure Flava!
FRANK THOMAS: First I must make it known that I couldn't give two
scats about baseball to tell you the truth, but who could miss it with all the johnson
slobbing it receives about this time every year by ESPN. Pre-season baseball is about as
exciting as soccer and hockey (which deserve zero coverage so that they don't take up
anymore of my sport center highlights time), but not quite. Frank, Grow the F up! What in
the hell is your problem? Remember I'm no baseball expert, but I do recall Frank pulling
the same stunt a couple years ago and he came out being paid one of the highest salaries
in the league. A couple years ago I also recall saying, "where in the hell is Frank
Thomas this year" for about a 3 year period we heard nothing about this guy. Then
last year he has a pretty good year and all of a sudden frank says, "Wait a minute,
hold up! I need more money" He then tries to disguise this by saying he wasn't asking
for money, he just wanted his contract restructured. Bull shat! Whatever! A person from
Tama drinking a Heineken is still a person from Tama. I have a good idea, why don't you
play for the money that they're currently "underpaying" you to make up for all
the years they were "overpaying" you!
