| If you are anything like, then you stop by IGN religiously everyday. Whether it be IGN PC, Cube, Xbox, PS2, hell maybe
even Dreamcast, many of us videogame fiends depend on IGN for a majority of our
videogaming news. I myself have visited IGN
almost everyday since I got my computer almost 2 years ago.
I thought that IGN could do no wrong, they were the best at what they do,
hell I even thought about naming my first born child IGN
..well maybe not but you get
the point. Anyway recently I have noticed an evil presence stirring at all IGN related
websites. What I am referring to is IGN
Insider. At first this seemed like a harmless
little club that IGN had set up. Now however,
it seems to have become a growing concern. For
some of the news that IGN had giving out willingly in the past is now blocked to all but
those who are Insiders. IGN
recently posted pics of upcoming Gamecube games, but unfortunately, unless you want to pay
like 20-30 bucks to join Insider, you cannot view them.
What the hell is that noise!!!?
Suddenly delivering late-breaking gaming news to us eager consumers has
become overtaken by the desire to earn more money. Dont
get me wrong, I realize that it aint cheap doing what they do, but I think they make
enough with all the ads that are posted on their many websites. I mean seriously 3-5 banners a site and
..how
many total sites do they have anyway? They
have sites for some of the damnedest things. IGN
for man(Ok thats understandable), but IGN Toys
.WTF? Im sure they make plenty with those ads
alone to run their sites most effectively. And
speaking of ads
.I usually check out a couple of videogame related IGN sites, and I
noticed a frickin Insider ad on all of them. Hell,
in some cases it was the top story on the site, Come join the Insider see what your
missing. If I joined it Ill tell
ya what I would be missing
.about 30 bucks.
I mean do they actually expect people to pay 30 dollars for gaming news? Why would someone spend the money of game info as
oppose to spending roughly the same amount on the game itself? I like to know how certain games are coming along,
but in my opinion it aint worth the money.
In conclusion, I find it very shady of IGN to make us pay for information
they have given out for free in the past. So
IGN, put on your pajamas, take some Nytol, and frickin sleep |
