Any fan of this
cartoon series, or Batman in general, has heard of how the powers that be over at WB have
managed to cut this film from its original version to a more PC (politically correct)
version for the kids. Perhaps WB has failed to realize that the P.C. version of
Batman is what has put a permanent stain on the entire Caped Crusader franchise. Luckily,
like the previous Batman animated movies, "Return of the Joker" keeps us Batman
enthusiasts hopeful that one day the Batman movie franchise will be redone the way it
really should be. Until then, animation is the best way to go.
In "Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker" the cackling, dead,
super-villain Joker returns to torment Bruce Wayne. The new Batman,Terry McGinnis,
learns disturbing details about the Caped Crusader's final, horrifying encounter with the
Joker and discovers what became of the second Robin, Tim Drake.
Wow, after seeing this movie its apparent that the best way
to get your Batman fix is through the animated vehicles. For the third straight time in a
row, the Animated Batman movies hits the ball and sends it flying out the stands. This
movie is wonderfully written, albeit a little obvious at times, and depicts the dark world
of the Bat wonderfully. To see the art of the "New Adventure Batman" mixed with
the "Batman Beyond" art is trully wettening to any Batman Fan. This movie helps
tie in any loose ends that may have occured during process of that series (Like where the
hell is Tim Drake, or the original Joker, or the first Robin), and Batman beyond has one
of the best flashback sequences I've ever seen in my life. The Joker here in this film is in top form once again, (voiced by Mark Hammil),
providing some of the funniest lines ever. The humor blends with the drama, and
psychological warfare between the Bat's and the Jokerz to create one hell of a ride.

Don't get happy about that Deleted Scenes piece my
friends, its nothing more than an un-animated scene in storyboard form with no color or
music..just voice track. And its not the scenes that the WB heads butchered out of the
movie. Even with that part gone, the movie still is very VERY good. But one just can't get
out of the back of their mind how much better the film could've been had nothing been done
to change its original form. I guess will never know, unless WB decide to release an
un-edited cut. Of course, now that the Batman Beyond art staff has moved on to Justice
League cartoons, the chance of us seeing that are slim to none. Oh well, I just hope that
all our modes of seeing Batman aren't taken away from us. I don't know what the world
would come to without the Dark Crusader every Saturday morning.
