Let's Do It Fast...Let's Do It Furious!!!

A Review by

Vigilante

This is the review that just didn't want to come to pass. I went to see this movie the day before it came out, and guess what happened? My car f'n stopped on me. Yeah, go ahead and make your jokes. On my way to a car flick, my car f*ck*n quit. Hardy har har. Anyway, after a week and some days..I finally got the time to go back and take a look at this action car flick. Vigilante is very happy that he did.

Paul Walker ("The Skulls") plays Brian, an undercover cop investigating a series of sensational big-rig hijackings. The police and FBI need it to stop before the truckers take matters into their own hands. Cash flows freely through the street-racing scene and the cops know some of that money is dirty. Dominic (Vin Diesel) and Johnny are both suspects. So Brian infiltrates Dominic's street racing team to find more, but in the midst of infiltrating the team...Brian finds himself entering the heart of Dominic's younger sister Mia (Jordanna Brewster). Brian has to figure whether he wants to choose the side of his job...or the side with  his heart.

I thought Paul Walker was going to be the next "Freddie Prinze Jr." after that horrible film known as "The Skulls". But, it appears that like Vin Diesel's "Pitch Black". Everyone has to start somewhere, even if it is the very bottom. The chemsitry between Diesel and Walker is teriffic, and make me really root for these two kick ass dudes. Let's not forget about the beautiful women in Jordanna Brewster and Michelle Rodruigez. Those two offer some nice eye candy for the guys, and are pretty good people to look  up to for females.

That's just icing on the cake, as we all know that one doesn't see Fast and The Furious for the acting. You go for the cars. And there, my friend, is where this film excels. F&F has one racing scene that gets you in the mood of what toe expect fromt the chases that follow throughout the rest of the film. The "under the engine" cam view has to be one of the best blood pumping experiences one has felt in quite some time. The shaking car cam almost puts you in the seat of the car, as the driver changes gears while shifting. Its a feeling that only this film has been able to relay to me.

Though the adrenaline meter on this film is beyond measure, this film does flub up  in a few spots. The most notable is that in the end, no one has any clue what happens to any characters. I mean, the ending leaves you with the feeling that "Tomb Raider" did. You know the feeling you get when you wait 3 hours in a line for a rollercoaster, you get on and its the most kick ass experience you've ever had, but then it just stops. You loved the ride, but when its all over you feel that something should have brought you into a smoother ending. Same thing here. I hear that a sequel to this film will explain the happenings to these characters, and thats fine and dandy. But I want answers NOW!!

Another thing that could have been cleared up somewhere down the line...the stunt doubles in this film are CLEARLY visible. It doesn't happen enough to completely kill the adrenaline buzz this film gets going...but it comes close.

Fast and The Furious is yet another action movie that is just fun from start to finish. You feel the intensity of the action scenes, and the kick ass performances from Vin Diesel and Paul Walker make Vigilante here look foward to F&F's sequel.
