Highlander: Endgame

Is it the End?

A Review by

Vigilante

Endgame's plot brings it all around to the fact that the immortals are mired in a never-ending game that is quite bloody and has, over the years, weighed heavily on the conscience of Connor MacLeod (Lambert). In Endgame, Jacob Kell (played by Bruce Payne) -- an old adversary of MacLeod's -- makes it known that he is intent on winning the game, and begins killing immortals left and right with his posse of other immortals. Connor and Duncan have to team up to fight him, even though Connor has long since given up on the game.

Well, its a Higlander Film. One that is leaps and bounds better than the two sequels before it. This movie also has some hard ass fighting scenes, one that will hold its place in my head for some time.

As for the bad...man, where does one start. First, I don't know if I'm the only one to know this, but there is no real climax to this film. Yes, the tension builds, and there is a final battle. But to me, there was nothing climatic about it. In fact, throughout this entire film. I felt I was watching a big screen version of the Higlander tv series, and Christopher Lambert was doing a guest spot.

Second, where the hell are all the cool effect that took place in the trailer. Like the splitting of Kell into two?! Rumor has it that these items were yanked out to make Kell not seem so powerful, which I can understand. But at the same time, it would've helped so much because it would have given us a real climax..(the Mclouds defeating the odds, and overpowering the all powerful imortal.)Instead they went back and did cheap re-shoots that further plunge this movie into tv budgetdom.

This is a decent movie, and a big jump in the very pitiful Highlander franchise. I just hope this is the last one guys, you can only beat a dead horse so many times.
