| The newcomer to
the R&B table, Musiq has two of the hottest singles rotating on urban radio stations
nowadays. Is this newfound fame deserving, or is just just two hot tracks out of a bunch
of duds?Scratch Introlude – This is
basically a interlude where an MC spells out Musiq's first name while scratching on a
record in the background. Odd... $.10 Girl Next Door – This song is about how a girl you grew up with, and weren't exactly nice to, grew up to be a beautiful woman. Man, how many people can relate to that. :-) Anyway, this laid back song is on point and definately get this album off to a bangin start. Nice guitar in the background. "If I woulda knew the girl next door woulda been
you, I woulda been nice to you, a little more kind to you. I woulda looked twice at
you." -Musiq "If our friends and family, can't bare to see us
both happy. Then it'll be just you and me against the world". - Musiq $5.00 "I'm not tryin to pressure you, just can't stop thinking bout you. You ain't even really got to be my girlfriend. I just wanna know your name, and maybe sometime we can hook up, hang out, just chill." -Musiq Mary Go Round – Nice little play of words here. The name of the girl is Mary, and Musiq tries everything he can to please her but she just "Goes around" and hurts him. Mary Goes around, like a Merry Go Round. More Knowledge."How can love be so kind and so gentle, and turn
and be so cold" -Musiq "Words get in the way. Things that you really really mean to say. So I wanna take out this time to make sure how I really feel get's through to you. Cause listen, their aren't many more ways in words that I can say. So I chose to tell you how I feel in a numerical way." -Musiq $3.00 Love – Second single off this blazin ass album. This track talks about the word "Love" and how everyone mususes, and doesn't respect "love" the way they should. Deep ish man. "Love, so many people use your name in vain. Love, those who have faith in you..sometimes go astray." -Musiq $4.00 My Girl – This song talks about how if there's anything his girl needs, that she shouldn't be afraid to ask because she's his girl. This is a very good song, just not feeling this one like I am the rest of the album. "If there's anything that you need. Don't be afraid to ask, cause you're my girl." -Musiq $1.75 Musiq Soulchild (Interlude) – Musiq just lays down some rhymes in a rapping form telling all his critics to shut up, his style is his own and he wouldn't change it for no one. Hot beat $1.25 Seventeen – A tale about dating a girl who ends up being younger than she lets on. Very very real, this happens to somebody everyday. "She was just 17 years old, and I was dead wrong from the door. I ain't trying to see myself locked up for knocking off some young joy." - Musiq $3.00 L' is Gone – A song about smokin hydro and getting your groove on. I can't relate to this, but it still is a hot track. "What we gon do with the L is gone, so we just roll some more so we can flow some more. Or maybe I should just take you home, and make you feen for my (bleep) like a love jones." -Musiq $2.00 Speechless – On this one, Musiq talks about how he's so into a girl that she has him speechless. There's a little scratching, like the opening intro, in the background here. I think this is the one song on the album I'm just not feeling. "All I know, you've got me speehless" - Musiq $.25 Poparatzi – What do the poparatzi do? Take pictures, so the chorus has the words picture me repeated several times in it. This song is about the guy trying to have the girl to picture how his life would be hell without her. Nice. "Picture me down and out, lost without you."-
Musiq $1.25 You're Alright – Man..this song hits hard to me. This song says that even though you're having troubles within your life, other people are going through things that are just as bad to them. So if you make it past these problems...you'll be alright. "People have a tendency to think to
themselves that their the only ones going through more things than anyone
else"- Musiq This album is hot, I mean real hot. I'm talking best R&B album of this year type ish. In fact, why the hell are you still reading this review?
