Yes! Radiohead is back, only a couple of months after their experimental CD Kid-A, I had the pleasure to review too. This time, Amnesiac was suppose to be a pop album with a little bit of weird Kid-A stuff. Pop? I wish every pop groups was like them, as we get a sound between OK Computer and Kid-A. We could say that it’s like a roller coaster for kids. It sure is more twisted than those damn horses spinning, but it ain’t as scary as the big roller coaster. Still, Radiohead is God and here’s the review.

Packt like Sardines in a Crushd Tin Box – Damn, it look like I wrote the song’s name on the CD. This one pretty much explain us how the CD will be. There’s a good beat, there’s a good melody. Except they sing “I’m a reasonable man get off my case” 20 times. Get kind of boring if you pay attention to the lyric, but still a decent intro.

$3.00

Pyramid Song – This is the first single of the group since OK Computer, and the video clip is so cool by the way. Kind of like the blips for Kid-A, but for 4:48. This song is slow and relaxing just like “How to disappear completely was”. Tom York voice is absolutely beautiful, and it’s not the last time you will heard me say that. A GREAT first single, let’s hope it will bring more fans to them, and maybe, this will become our new pop. Please.

“There was nothing to fear and nothing to doubt”

$6.00

Pulk/Pull Revolving Doors – I enjoyed a lot Kid-A and all the experimentation Radiohead did with it. This song is like the result of those experimentation. Well… let just say that the father and mother of the child were better than their child. It’s weird, but not enough. It got a mechanic voice that bother me, too.

$1.00

You and Whose Army? – This is the first song everybody could have at home because they sang it in a concert in 2000 and a mp3 began making his way on the net. Still, this version is WAY better. It’s the old of Radiohead of “The Bends” that wrote this song, and it’s good to hear new songs they never released. I love it, and I think it could even play on radio. Really, I would like it.

$5.25

I Might Be Wrong – I don’t dig this one very well. A nice beat at the start doesn’t stop until the end, and Tom sings slowly over it. It’s not a bad song, but it just doesn’t hit my weak spot.

$0.75

Knives Out – Another mix between pop and experimental music. York voice is great, you know. Just wanna be sure you don’t forget. The song is very good itself, but I don’t think they should make a single out of it. This is Radiohead, iconish songs is something normal for them. But I bet a lot of groups would want a song as good as this one for their album.

“If you'd been a dog, They would've drowned you at birth”

$4.00

Amnesiac/Morning Bell – I was a little worried about this one, I mean, having your “main” song of the CD be a song from your last album… and not a song that I loved all that much. But you know what, this one is WAYYYY cooler, better and (insert what you want here) that the previous one. Morning Bell? There’s bells! And it sound great!

“Cut the kids in half”

$5.50

Dollars & Cents – I had heard that Amnesiac was going to be a depressing CD, and until this song, I wasn’t thinking so. But this one, it’s a strange feeling you get while listening to it. They keep saying “Why won’t you quiet down?” but it doesn’t get boring after a while like in the first song, which name is too complicated for me to write right now. Cool song, even if you shouldn’t go skiing or something like that after listening to it.
$3.25

Hunting Bears – Yes, hunting bears. Isn’t it the best title song ever? Unfortunately, there’s no Tom York on this song, so there’s nobody singing. No lyric is a big no-no for me, but still could be a good song if your parents dies. Kind of get you in the mood to cry.

$0.50

Like Spinning Plates – I was sure they was going to be some techno boom-boom, as the background music is the same from some well known techno songs. Don’t worry, it ain’t techno, but it’s still cool. Good track, that lead us toward the end.

$2.00

Life in a Glass House – Wow, that song RULZ! There’s a actually some Jazz in a Radiohead song! And believe me, it’s sooo great. It still in the mood of depression or relaxation, but with some tuba and trombone (or something similar), and the result is: Life in a Glass House is one of the best song on this CD, but if Radiohead really wanted to be a pop group, they didn’t do it right. But I don’t believe this sh*t after all, ‘cause Radiohead is God, and so is this track!

$6.75

Amnesiac is a great CD that everybody should give a try to. Please do it, for the love of good music and non-shitty CD, just give it a chance and try it. If you really don’t like experimental music, go get OK Computer, if you like experimental music a lot, get Kid-A. If you are not sure, get this one. The mix is perfect, and the songs are pretty damn good. After all, which CD as 4 songs rated 5$ or over? Thanks you and have a nice day, I’m going to listen to it yet once again.

Album worth: $38.25

Album price: $16.99 (in Canada Anyway)
