| We've all heard
it, and hell probably most of us all have it already...that's right, Eminem's The Marshall
Mathers LP. It had the biggest debut for a solo artist, but GYEAH.COM felt a CD review
section without Eminem, would be greatly lacking. A thing to note about the review, we
compared our original review of it (before release) to how we feel now, and here is our
comprehensive review: PUBLIC
SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT 2000 Another
classic intro from Eminem. This one didn't give me the pure adrenaline rush as the last
one, but it kicks off this CD..perfectly. Pretty much sums up the whole damn thing, if you
don't think so...
"Sue Me".
Track Rating: $0.50
KILL YOU The beat on this one is something only
Eminem could flow to. If you doubt me...think about it. The truth will hit you harder than
Dirk Diggler. But seriously, this song is what we've come to expect from Eminem, tons of
-ish talking and comedy.
"OKAY! I'm ready to go play! I got the machete from OJ and ready to make everyone's
throats ache!"
$2.00
STAN (feat.
Dido.) Now this song is just plain eerie. This is one
of those songs that gives ya goosebumps whenever ya hear. This song is in the same
vein as the "Kim" (Bitch so Wrong) track. But this time its about a obsessed fan
and his letters...insane really. Even if you don't like Em, listen to this...trust me you
will change your mind.
"I'm in a car right now, doing 90 on the freeway. Hey Slim, I drank a 5th of Vodka,
you dare me to drive?"
$5.00
PAU L (Skit) A Paul Rosenberg skit
like the last album. Pretty pointless, but has some history.
"Fuck it."
$0.10
WHO KNEW Some of the lyrics you may have
already heard, from an unreleased song with Fred Durst and Em, "Turn Me Loose,"
. But after the first few verses, its all new material. This track is all about the
backlash in the media about song lyrics and the effect they have. Em uses
logic...obviously a weakness of his opponents.
"My life's like, kinda what my wife's like...fucked up, after I beat her fucking ass
every night! Eik. So how much easier would life be, if 19 million motherfuckers grew up to
be just like me?"
$1.50
STEVE BERMAN (Skit) Another skit. I figure this Steve Berman character is
supposedly the head of Interscope or whoever's distributing for Aftermath. Berman gives
Eminem a hard time about his content, pretty hilarious.
"You're rapping about homosexuals and vicatin. I can't sell this shit."
$0.50
THE WAY I AM I personally thought this would be the last song that Eminem would release
as a single, but boy was I wrong. Became a huge hit, almost even rivaling "The Real
Slim Shady." On the track Eminem tears up intrusive fans and the media, but somehow
ya still gotta love him. I still am really liking this song, every time I hear it I feel
like punching a hole in the wall :).
"Call you a lawyer, file you a lawsuit. I'll smile in the courtroom, and buy you a
wardrobe."
$3.00
THE REAL SLIM SHADY - I was just like you, I used to love this track. As soon as I
got an advance of the album, I wore this song out like cheap underwear. But by the time
the video hit MTV, I was already sick of this song. But all in all, its a good song that
you might actually get to hear in the horrible clubs around Iowa. It's getting very tired,
but still good in small doses.
"Ya act like ya never seen a white person before...jaws all on the floor."
$2.00
REMEMBER ME (ft. RBX & Sticky Fingers)
Okay now I just plain love this one. The beat screams DR. DRE! Anyone who
really follows Hip Hop will remember the Dre diss track off RBX's previous CD The RBX
Files, and this uses a very similar hook. But this time RBX is on Aftermath, and Sticky
Fingers and Eminem are along to help. They shout out their "forgotten" most
memorable lines for the hook, and show that Aftermath is more than just Dre and Em. This
song should be on muzak in heaven.
"You retarded? Cause I grab the mic and get down, like syndrome."
$5.00
I'M BACK
I could see this as being one of the next singles, but its got too much of
a similar hook and feel to his other stuff, so I doubt it will, but I wouldn't be
surprised. I've grown pretty tired of this song personally, perhaps a better hook would've
stopped that. But I still can't forget some of the classic lines in it:
"You hear this finger? Oh, its just upside
down. Hear let me turn this motherfucker up right now."
"Its Ken Kaniff on the Internet, trying to lure your kids..into bed."
$3.00
MARSHALL MATHERS - The track that introduces Marshall Mathers, the other side of
the Eminem, but its alot harder than you'd expect. Has lots of ish talking to boy bands
and everyone's favorite rappers..Vanilla Ice and ICP. I put them in the same sentence for
a reason. A slow track, reminds me of "I still don't give a fuck."
"New Kids on the block sucked alot of dick. Boy girl groups make me sick. I can't
wait till I catch you faggots in public, I'm gonna like it."
$3.00
KEN KANIFF (Skit) Another skit, this one
with the most popular ass clown since Elton John, Ken Kaniff. ICP pleasures him orally on
this one...Don't forget this freshness. As funny as it is, I still can't stand playing
this song. I feel like people might confuse my sexuality or think I'm watching gay porn or
something. Ya know?
"Oh, this is why they call you 2 dope, aint it?"
Rating: $0.50
DRUG BALLAD Very similar to "Cum on Everybody" from the last
CD. Has the similar female voice and beat, but that's about the only comparison. This
track flows about Em's love of nature....gotta love it.
"If I get caught cheating, I'm stuck with you."
$3.00
AMITTYVILLE - (feat. Bizarre)
A slower track, which I doubt is going to
be anyone's favorite, but Bizarre still gets his chance to rhyme. Which can't hurt his
career considering how many times this disc will go platinum. Talks of slitting throats,
rape, and what not...typical D-12 topics.
"My mother wasn't
raped, I ate her pussy while she sleep."
$1.50
BITCH PLEASE II (feat. Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Xzibit, Nate Dogg) I
guarantee everyone who bought this cd and read this on the back of the packaging skips
right to this track. BITCH PLEASE 2 WITH EM AND DRE! Who said the sequel can never surpass
the original? It's not going to get the airplay of the original, but it still is on the
same level. Xzibit is his usual hard-core self, Snoop's part is the weakest...I weep
thinking of the Doggystyle days. Dre also does his part, and Eminem is masterfully in
imitating Snoop. INSTANT CLASSIC!
"Here, want me to tone it down? Suck
my fucking dick you faggot..you happy now?"
$5.00
KIM
LISTEN TO THIS! This is the craziest song
I've ever heard. If this doesn't blow the masses brains...I will be insanely surprised. I
really can't believe they are releasing this, its just plain nuts. I'd heard this track
before, so I wasn't as taken back, but its still the same crazy ass track. I can't believe
the masses didn't burn Eminem for this, somehow it avoided the bad publicity that I
thought would haunt it.
"BLEED BITCH! BLEED!"
$10.00
UNDER THE INFLUENCE (ft. D-12) Eminem
and his crew....nothing to really say besides that. Pretty wet track. Gives ya a chance to
check out the Dirty Dozen Em always talks about, now ya know why he does...
"My DJ's in a coma for letting the record skip. For letting the record skip."
$2.00
CRIMINA L Hands down, my favorite
track. I heard snippets of this on the teaser and I was singing around "I'M A
CRIMINAL" and now with the rest of the song...can I be stopped? I annoy all at
gyeah.com with my "Criminal" singing, deal with it. And still to this day, I
can't stop loving this song, I just play it alot less often.
"How many records you expecting to sell after your second LP sends directly to
jail?"
$7.50
Jay Z had a sophomore slump, so did
Nas. Slim Shady averts that with the impressive MARSHALL MATHERS LP. If you downloaded
this in mp3, buy this DAMN album, I wouldn't be able to sleep at night not paying for it.
This CD will go down in my all-time
favorites. And its not about shock-value, or music videos, or the color of his skin. It's
because its a great hip hop album, and that's that.
Album worth: $55.10
Album price: $13.28
