Clue

Very Unprofessional.

A Review by

Vigilante

Another pre release here at Gyeah.com, this time coming in the form of a mix tape from New York's own DJ clue. I for one grow very annoyed by Clue's rants of "NEW SH*T" and "Clue" throughout artists tracks. Also Various Artist cd's tend to be the worst creation to man, but I'm still going to take one for the team. So, here goes.

Intro
Puff talking about how good Clue is. He says some dumb ish about how he keeps it real, and that's why he "f***" with him. Great...

$0.00

Back To Life (ft. Mary J Blige & Jadakiss) I guess Puff rubbed off on Clue on this track, as the hook for a classic song "However do you need me" is slapped in here, luckily it doesn't last for the whole track as Jadakiss comes in on a very un-original snare beat. Of course...Kiss rips the ish out of it. Then that damn hook returns.

$.25

Freestyle (feat. Jay-Z) On this track, Clue decides to be overwhelmingly annoying. Jigga spits to another basic new york style track in what it supposed to be a freestyle. Perhaps it is, but even if it is...its just ok.

$.50

Who's Next? (ft. DMX) X and clue collab once more. I personally think DMX's style is wearing thin with many of the people in the music industry. He really isn't offering anything new to the rap table, and on this track he shows how stagnant he has become. The hook is pretty hot though.

$.25

"Even up north, I put n*gg*s to waste. So if you wanna stop the violence, then get the f*ck out my face."

Coming For Your (ft. Beanie Siegal & Freeway) Hot futuristic beat, and as one of the few people that like Sigel. He handles in true fashion. Some cat named Freeway comes in and spits, his voice is annoying as hell...but he does pretty nice once you get past that. Would've been better had he not been on the track. The hook uses the ol "school yard/freddy krueger 1...2...blah blah's coming for you" sample.

$1.15

Fantastic Four Part 2 (ft. LOX, Camron, Nature, Fabulous)This was one of my favorite tracks on the first Professional, and this time its round two. There's actually more than four people on this track, but its all good. Cam has one hell of a long verse on here, but the L.O.X steal the show.

"Keep talking about yo dogs is this, and you leavin out the part that you dogs is b*tch" - Styles of the LOX

"Won't shoot nothing, but you will appear it court. I'll put your brains everywhere, so you can share your thoughts". -Jadakiss of LOX

$2.50

Getting It (ft. Bustah Rhymes & Rah Digga) Of course featuring Flipmode's hottest two rappers, you know this beat is going to beat hot..and for a minute they come through. Then the beat slows down big time and becomes a total let down. However manly Rah Digga may sound, she gives a nice verse here. I just can't find myself listening to this track more than once.

$.75

Cream 2001 (ft. Raekwon) - With the excpetion of Method Man, Wu-Tang is very hit or miss with me. They might have one track on an entire album that would be hot, then everything else will sound the same. Luckily, the beat on this track allows Raekwon a little more freedom than normal Wu-Tang fare...but still nothing to write home about.

$.25

What The Beat (ft. Method Man, Eminem, and Royce the 5'9)Speaking of Method Man..hehe. On this track, three of the better MC's out there each lay down a verse and then each recite their version of the hook. Pretty Hot stuff

"But I'm not your super lover see, I'm the super sperm. Splashin on your skin rub it in like its luberderm." - Method Man

"And everybody's bloody, and I'm just laughing like its funny, cause I don't really give a shit about no motha f*ck*n body, I'm so motha f*ck*n nutty, I don't give a f*ck about nothin." - Eminem

"Royce 5'9 and DJ Clue, I ain't mad, I just do what the beat say do."

$2.75

Interlude (ft. Lil' Mo) Lil Mo sings the praises of DJ Clue. I don't know why so many people sleep on Lil Mo, she's the future. Anyway, this is cool I guess. Odd...but good just the same.

$.50

F*ck a B*tch - I guess Snoop told Clue to shut the hell up on his tracks, cause for the first time..you only here Clue about 3 to four times. Anyway, Snoop and Kurupt together again rappin on a west coast beat with a singin hook talking about how you have to get your money and F' a b*tch.

$1.50

Change The Game Remix (ft. Roc-A-Fella & Dogg Pound)The ultimate collabo. Jigga, Daz, Kurupt, Benie, and even Memphis rip this remix to hell. This is some hot ish, and a must here for any hip hop fan.

$3.50

My Niggas Dem (ft. Trick Daddy & Trina)Why is this on this cd?!? Trina has some serious talent, but haning out with Trick Daddy will do nothing but end your career. His voice is annoying, his rappin skills do not exist, and he is a disgrace to hip hop. As hot as Trina is, she can't save this bastard of a track.

$.00

Live From The Bridge - (ft. Nas)Wow, this is a nice little 2:48 track from the man known as Nas. Just Nas, and he uses the time to just spit..non stop. This is the Nas I remember...leave those damn Qb peeps alone.

$2.00

So Hot(feat. Foxy Brown)I heard this track online awhile back, and was impressed then. The beat is just as hot as it was then, of course Foxy style more and more is becoming an exact replica of Lil' Kim's. Why she says she is original...I'll never know.

"Who the f*ck is yall aimin for, if its fox why ya'll ain't name me for?" -Foxy Brown

$1.75

Chinatown (ft. Lil Kim & Junior Mafia) – The beat rings in with a touch of Chinatown. Very funny to have Foxy and Lil Kim right after each other on the album. Kim is much better lyricist than Fox, and it shows seriously when these two tracks follow each other. "So Hot" is a more addicitve dance track, but this one is dirty and just flows.

"Nigga or bitch, you don't want no problems. My revolver is a quick problem solver." -Lil Kim

"Hatin ass niggas, I treat you like a b*tch. Strap on a fake dick, and stick you where you sh*t." - Lil Kim

$2.00

Freestyle (ft. Bathgate) This is cool, the cat spits for 59 seconds. Its pretty hot, but way to short and his style is too much like Jay Z's. That's a good thing, if everyone else wasn't sounding like him also.

$.20

M.A.R.C.Y. (ft. Memphis Bleek) Memphis Bleek is another hit or miss artist with me. I still fail to see all the hooplah on this cat. Anyway, the young Bleek rides the hell out of this hot beat. On this track Bleek talks about where he's from.

$1.00

I Don't Care (ft. Capone N Noreaga) Zzzz...zz..hunh oh..sorry. ALL Capone -N- Noreaga tracks sound EXACTLY the same. Same tired beat, Noreaga's non-sensical rhyming, and Capone's annoying ass voice. I wish Nore would loose Capone and do his solo ish again. Oh well, just like the hook says..this song.."I don't care"

$.00

The Best of Queens (ft. Mobb Deep) More artists who offer nothing new to the table. The same thing 24/7, and yet somehow idiots still fall for it. Maybe its just me. The beat is pretty nice, but the lyrical syle of Mobb Deep bores the hell out of me far too often. The second verse on this track is pretty hot though.

$.50

Red (ft. Redman)   I'm a fan of Redman, but this song isn't his best work..or his worst. Its just a decent track, nice beat, and some nice lyrics...but after you hear it once or twice..you won't have a desire to hear it again.

$.75

Dangerous (ft. Pokane/Lady Luck)   Wow, never heard of anyone on this track..but I'm impressed. Especially by the manly talking Lady Luck, where did Clue find this chick. I look foward to hearing more from her.

"The only thing I take serious, is God, missin money and late periods" - Lady Luck

"Love men, but got lesbian guns that like to lick off at you pussy's for fun" - Lady Luck

$2.00

Phone Patch (ft. Ty Shaun)    Nice way to end the cd, the track is muffled like the rapper is spittin his flow over the phone. He goes for about a minute non stop just rhyming, and it sounds pretty nice.

$.75

Pay no attention to the worth price, because this album has 23 freakin track. Once again Clue shows you that soundtrack and compilation albums tend to have a bunch of great artists doing a bunch of things half-assed. With a few hits, and more filler material..I suggest you let this one get its rest on the shelves and get the few tracks worth something off the internet.

Album worth: $24.85

Album price: $14.99
