Return of Dragon

A Review by

Vigilante

The man responsible for the catching, but overplayed "Thong Song" has returned with his sophomoric solo album. Does the cd live up the expectations he brought upon himself from his previous album "Unleash the Dragon"? Not in the least bit, but its not completely horrible either.

Intro  For a full 49 seconds, we get the honor of hearing Sisqo repeat "Dragon, say it with me Dragon" over and over again. Oh joy!! After hearing this poor exscuse for an intro, I'm dying to see what else the album has to bring to the table.

$.10

Not Afraid On this track, Sisqo's infectuous voice makes the song rather tolerable. There really is no point, or message to this song except for Sisqo saying that he's not afraid of anything. Its more of a get hype track, than an actual song.

$1.50

Infatuated The beat for this song is wild. And the song is fairly entertaining, but once again Sisqo manages to sing a song just for the purposes of hearing his voice and having a sweet beat.

$1.80

Can I Live (ft. The Dragon Family) The first single from the album, and so far I see why. It actually is a song about something. On this track Sisqo says he wishes this girl that he's not with would get off his back trying to figure out where, with whom, and what he's doing....can he breathe? Tell is Sisqo. This is a hot track, nice job Teddy Riley (producer).

$2.50

"Can I live, can I breathe. Let me exhale, get off me. What I do, where I be, who I see, you follow me.  Say what is this. Can i live, can I breathe. Let me exhale, get off of me. Give me privacy" - Sisqo

Without You (ft. Dru Hill) I wish Sisqo was still with these guys, this is when he was at his best. Dru Hill was one of the greatest r&b groups ever. Unfortunately, ego's won't allow them to reunite for a full album. They can however mange to get a single a piece out on Sisqo's albums. This song however, doesn't live up to the respect and talent that these batlimore boys have. Its not bad, but nothing to write home about either.

$1.00

Homewrecker –  Wow, I didn't think Sisqo could put more than three songs on his album that had an actual point. On this track, Sisqo sings about how this girl is trying to break up his happy home. Another track that a lot of people can relate to, but the song is a little so simplistic and annoying to listen to over and over again.

$1.10

Last Night – Sisqo at his best. Singing with a futurisitc beat in the background, singing to the tempo, and actually having a point to the track. "Last Night" has Sisqo talk about how last night he had a dream about a girl that was so hot, and had him out of breath..but she don't know who she is.

$2.00

Close Your Eyes Interlude - Instead of fooling people into thinking he actually had 12 tracks on this album, he could have just attached this to the track it belongs with. On this song, a girl tells Sisqo that she's tired of going through this ish, and she needs for him to show her that he really wants to be with her and love her.

$.10

Close Your Eyes – I was wondering if ballads were in Sisqo's vocabulary anymore. Here Sisqo tells the girl that he will be here for her, so she can close her eyes and put her hands in the sky and give herself up to him.

$1.80

Dance For Me  – A dance track, something that you would except from Sisqo. Here Sisqo continues the use of a spanish-esque dancing like he did with Thong Song. Of course this track is nowhere near as sweet and addictive as that track. Its decent, and like most of the tracks on this album...is rather forgettable after a few listens.

$1.50

Off The Corner (ft. The Associates) - I don't have a problem when Artist use their albums as a showcase to put their newly signed artists on their own album. Of course, when its an r&b album and the artist is a rap group..there's a litlte problem. Especially when you only have 12 tracks on your album (2 of which are intros). The song is pretty ok, but nothing that you will remember for awhile.

$.50

Dream (ft. Chinky of LovHer) – A duet ballad to close off this confused album. Sisqo finally sings a song, instead of talking through one. This is a very pretty song, and it shows that Sisqo is a very capable of putting on real music as compared to a bunch  of pop songs hidden under the thin veil of   "pop".

$2.75

Depending on what kind of Sisqo fan you are, depends on how much you'll enjoy this song. If you liked the Sisqo that was apart of Dru Hill, who sang real songs about heart felt things, and every now and then did a fast up-tempo track that just defied all previous thoughts...then this isn't your album. If you like the Sisqo that sang pop songs like "Thong Song" & "Not Afraid", and sang real songs like "Incomplete" every once in a blue. Then this is the album for you. I however hope to God that SIsqo will realize that "Thong Song" was one in a million, and that his real talent lies when he's apart of Dru Hill.

Album worth: $16.65

Album price: $15.49
