Brandy Norwood's
little brother releases his sophomore album (I think 4 people bought his first one) and
its being heavily sought after thanks to the hot single "Wait A Minute". Before
you buy this album, you may want to take a gander at this review to see if this album is
only one single strong.
Intro The intro kicks
in with another Neptunes beat, with Will Ferrel saying his pattonted "yeah" in
the background. Then we here Ray J repeat his name numerous times and say "its been a
long time." Pointless waste of a track.
$.20
Wait A Minute (ft. Lil Kim) Neptunes,
first single, song is hot...don't really need to say much else. Ray J's vocals still
non-existant.
$2.00
Takin Control Good God, anothe
Neptunes track...this time a slower paced track. If I hear Will of the Neptunes say
"Yeah" one more time in the background...I'm going to want to bitch slap him.
Anyway, on this track Ray J curses, talks about smokin phatties, and what not trying
to be harder than he really is. We also see that Ray J's weakness is on ballads. This
track makes me laugh.
$.20
Formal Invite (ft. Will Pherell) Well, from opening beat..you can tell this is a Neptunes
track. Hell, you can tell these guys from a mile away. Not really a good thing. Anyway, on
this track Ray J and Neptunes lead tries to "rap" the verses and then comes in
with a hook that makes him sound like Michael Jackson no doubt. Once again, the beat makes
the track.
$1.50
"I know you felt suprised just how long I
lasted. Telling all your friends I'm a nasty bastard." - Ray J
Keep Your Head Up To The Sky On this track,
Ray J tries to send out a message. He tells ladies to do there things to get through the
hard times, but they don't have to cry...keep their head up to the sky. A very pretty
song, could be even better had a person with vocals touched it.
$1.00
I Tried Oh god, I'm in for a long
album here guys. On this track, Ray J's anemic vocals slows down as he talks about a girl
who kicked him out his house, and threatened every aspect of his life. Even though he says
he tried to let her go before. Not a nice track.
$.10
U Need It - I Don't Like most tracks
on this album...this beat is wild. Another Neptunes track...how do I
know...."yeah"..bastards. Anwyay, on this track Ray J once again does the
talk/rap thing. Fourtanetly, the beat is somewhat hot so the beat doesn't completely suck.
Its not something that you'll listen to just for the sake of listening..this is definately
a car track...like most of the others on this cd.
$1.10
Out Tha Ghetto - Neptunes...again. Was there ever
any doubt?! Anyway, on this track Ray J how "we gon get out tha ghetto". He
claims to a girl that its time to change his life and hers...so he has to get out of the
ghetto. COnsidering I've seen the house that Brandy's mother was born in in
Mississippi...poverty yes, ghetto no. Also, I don't believe no one in the Norwood family
lives in the ghetto now anyway. Still, a decent track..no matter how unbelievable.
$1.20
No More - This track
sounds like something the r&b group Silk has done already Anyway, this here is a
ballad...and we know that Ray J + Ballad = Vigilante's suicide. On this track, R.J talks
about how he doesn't want to know a girl 'no more'. So stop f'n talking to her!! Anyway,
this song is very painful to the ear.
$.10
This Ain't A Game
Like the first 10 seconds state, Darkchild drops the beat for this track. The beat is off
the wall, but Ray J's lyrics/singing are very laughable at most. Luckily, the beat saves
face for Ray J as it proves to be very catchy.
$1.10
Interlude - GOD DAMN YOU WILL PHERELL. This interulde
repeats 'Yeah' about every 5 seconds, while Ray J talks about what makes him now. Weed,
saying the 'F' words, wild sex....yeah ok. I'm a f'n millionaire.
$.00
Wet Me On this track,
Ray J tries to be freaky. Instead, he just becomes sadly boring. Shoot me in the head now.
$.00
Crazy Rodney "Darkchild"
Jerkins here again, laying down another beat for the man Ray J. Here Brandy's little bro
talks about how its crazy how once you get with him...a girl will never want to leave. If
your vocals sound like this the entire album Ray...then its crazy someone would buy this
thing.
$.20
I Got It All A D.J. Clue
annoying ass track where "CLUE" & "NO SHIT" are repeated over and
over in the background..then we get Ray J rapping again. Damnit...where's that arsenic
when you need it.
$.00
Airport Skit - Heh...a funny little message on R.J.'s
answering machine. The phone rings about 5 times, than the machine picks up where R.J says
"DAmn, how many times you gon let it ring before you realise I ain't home." Heh,
unfortunately the title of this track comes in on the last 2 seconds of the interlude when
R.J realizes that his name doens't have anything to do with the skit...so he has an
airplane flying by sound tacked to the end.
$.05
Where Do We Go From Here
Another ballad that shows off R.J.'s wonderful vocal abilities. Here, Ray J says that he
is so happy in his relationship and they have done everything..so where do we go from
here.
$.20
Don't even contemplate buying this album. The record company doesn't have much faith in
it, setting its sale price at 9.99 (7.99 and 6.99 on sale at Best Buy and Circuit City).
They want to get this crap out to you for the only price that you guys may actually buy
it. As you can see by the score, his album worth couldn't even make it past the low 9.99
album price. This album shows that to have vocals in no longer necessary to become an
artist. Just sign the Neptunes to do your tracks, and in no time you will be a superstar.
Burn Ray J...burn.
