| Another soundtrack
here, this one to the black drama film "Baby Boy". Soundtracks to these type of
films tend to be boring, and one dimensional...let's see if this album falls into that
same category. Intro: The Womb
This Intro probably is the opener for the
movie, as Tyrese talks about how an average black man in today's day in time is still
really a baby boy.
$.20
Just A Baby Boy (Snoop Dogg, Tyrese, & Mr.
Tan) Second single here, not sure if this would be the next single if
it wasn't also the lead track off the soundtrack of "Baby Boy". A movie
Vigilante is really looking foward to (not the sarcasm). This song is pretty weak,
especially considering that Snoop is on here as well. Oh well.
$.50
Just A Man (Raphael Saadiq ft. Devin The Dude) One of the members of
Tony, Tone, Toni here as he drops a song about how he's just a man, and he trying to do
the best he can do to keep his relationship together.
$1.10
Interlude: Focus
On this 'lude, Tyrese's character in Baby Boy says the reason we as people are so divided
now are because we don't have focus.
$.20
Baby Mama (Three Six Mafia ft. La) Three
Six Mafia often gets ignored in my comments when I say rappers who don't rap about shit,
but get plenty of recognition. Three six mafia is in that wack echelon with No Limit and
Cash Money. Anyway, this track is funny and stupid...but I would never in my life listen
to this again.
$.10
Talk Shit To Ya (D'Angelo ft.
Marlon C) On this track, D'Angelo does his style of things again with a
rapper who sort of gets over by mumbling his rhymes. This song is pretty hot, and I can
see people bobbing their hands to this saying "Talk shit to ya" 24/7.
$1.50
I'd Rather Be With You (Bootsy Collins) OL
SCHOOL!!! YOu gotta love ol school ish man. Especially when you think about all the songs
in today's music that have sampled from this track. Anwyay, its good to just sit back and
listen to some ol school music from time to time.
$2.00
You (Felcia Adams) - This is a laid back
r&b track, that is very pretty. On this track Felicia sings about how she guess she
was wrong about how her man would always be there for her, but now he's gone and she's all
alone. This girl can sang!
$2.50
Interlude: Jody meets Rodney LMFAO....this interlude alone has me interested to see this film.
Here, Snoop's character ROdney meets Tyrese's character Rodney after Rodney talks big ish
to him while he's behind bars. Rodney calls for his heat.
$1.00
Crip Hop (Eastsidaz ft. Snoop Dogg) - A nice west coast
style track, typical stuff to expect from the Eastsidaz and Snoop. Its pretty hot, but its
one of those tracks that don't stand out from most of the other stuff these guys do.
$1.30
That's How We Get Down (B.G. ft. Baby Lac) I'm not saying anything. Most of you know my reaction to Cash Money's
talents. Like all the time, this beat is off the motha f'n hook. It almost makes no
sense, unfortunately its wasted on yet another bunch of verses from an anemic rapping
flow.
$1.30
Interlude: Guns & Butter On this lude,
Ving Rhames character spits some knowledge. He says there are two types of niggas in this
world. Those with guns and those with butter. Guns are stocks and bonds, art work...stuff
that appreciats with value. Butter is ish like cars, clothes, and jewelry...shit
that means nothing after you buy it. Words to live by.
$1.00
We Keep It G (Lost Angels) Boring rap track, that is nothing but filler material for this
album. I think if they wanted to make a debut, they could've come with a much better track
than this.
Eat, Sleep, Think (Connie McKendrick) This track is blazing, as
Connie sings about how she can't do eat, sleep, think, or breathe without her man.
$2.20
"Tell me what I'm gon' do. I can't eat sleep, think..breathe without you.I wish you
knew that I can't eat sleep, think..breathe without you." - Connie McKendrick
Just To Keep You Satisfied (Marvin Gaye) Another ol school track, and
this one comes from none other than the legendary Marvin Gaye. HIs talent was certainly
cut much to short.
$2.00
Interlude: I Hate You Jody and his baby's momma display and discuss their utter hate for
each other.
$.10
Love And War (Anthony Hamilton & Macy Gray) This
is a very interesting duo. Anthony Hamilton has a very soothing r&b voice, while Macy
Gray sounds like Freddy Krueger had a field day with her vocal cords. Anwyay, even with
this mismatch..the track is pretty nice as they discuss the battle that goes on called
love and war.
$1.70
Straight Fucking (The Transitions ft. Gator) You would
think a track with a title like that would be the greatest song ever....well not quite. It
definately has an old school feel to it, and that can be played in the bedroom.
$1.00
Baby Boy (Felicia Adams)
Here Felicia takes the role of the mother, and says
that its time she lets her baby fo and live his life on his own.
$1.80
I really can't recommend buying this entire album. There are quite a few
songs that are very good, but then the bad ones take away from their shining brilliance.
If you can, see if you can borrow this cd from someone first...or go to Blockbuster Music
(if they still exist) and listen to it first. Then, make your decision from there.
