Break The Cycle

A Review by

b3

This Album has put Staind on the map. If you hadnt heard of them before... you have now. I loved both their previous offerings and knew this would be no different. Staind is the only band I listen to that gets an extreme amount of air time. I hope the masses buy their CD to listen to every track... rather than singles. It's worth listening to.

Note: "My G-Spot" refers to the part in the song which I feel strongly about/agree with/ love , etc.

1.) Open Your eyes: Open your Eyes is a song written in perspective by Aaron (different than he normally writes) about various shit that he's seen. A nice message in the chorus. "what would you do... if it were you. Would you take everything for granted like you do." Nice guitars on this track.

My G-Spot: Overpopulation there's no room in jail But most of you don't give a shit
That your daughters are porno stars And your sons sell death to kids
You're so lost in your little worlds Your little worlds you'll never fix

Track Value: $4.00

2.) Pressure:
This track gets me everytime I hear it. If the music itself doesnt send chills up and down your spine...the lyrics will. "Pressure" rocks me in a way that very few songs have before. I can see this as their next single.

My G-Spot: My head hurts this shit isnt getting me high. My chest is so tight think I am going to die. My stomachs in knots and the room starts to spin as I wait for this valium to slowly kick in.

Track Value: $6.00

3.) Fade.: After the first 2 tracks kicking your ass you'll have a chance to relax. Fade is pretty tame. Don't expect the lyrics to not rip your ass like the first 2 tracks did though. There's no rest on this CD. It kicks your ass and Fade is no different.

My G-Spot: I only know that I can change. Everything else just stays the same. So now I step out of the darkness that my life became.

Track Value: $3.00

4.) It's been a while:"It's been a while" was released as their first single at about the time that "Outside (track 11) was. The combination of these 2 tracks really sold the CD. If you liked "home" you'll like this very much. Watching the video adds a whole new experience to listening to the song. Aaron says he wrote this song simply after realizing that its been a while since so many things... in his life.

My G-Spot: But everything I can't remember as fucked up as it all may seem to be I know it's me I cannot blame this on my father he did the best he could for me

Track Value: $3.50

5.) Change: With tracks #1-4 keeping my busy I left "Change" on the backburner for a while. I suspect others will too. However, listening to this song is a experience you just cant pass up. Songs like this make life a little easier...if only for a few minutes.

My G-Spot How do I feel? I've been here before, I've felt this Retreat to a place, a place within me I need this.
Keep it all down, bottled inside It breaks me. To torment again and Torture me like it used to

Track Value: $ 3.00

6.) Can't Believe: "Cant believe" will reach right out of your CD player force itself down your throat and rip you apart from the inside out. Every morning when I drive to work I have to listen to this. At 6:00 AM when you need something to kick your ass.... This is the song. Aaron wrote this after seeing all the people at their concerts disrespecting others. Girls getting raped, etc.

My G-Spot: I can't believe all the travesty Surrounding me, I, I want to flee
I want to flee from everything In front of me I Can't believe

Track Value: $5.50

7.) Epiphany: A song very similiar to "Its been a while" I like this song and it could also end up as a single. However, I'd also like to see something a little different like Fade or Pressure. But a song that really sums up the way shit is.

My G-Spot: 'Cause it's always raining in my head Forget all the things I should have said
I am nothing more than a little boy inside That cries out for attention,
though I always try to hide

Track Value: $5.00

8.) Suffer: If you enjoyed "pressure" you'll enjoy "Suffer" just as much. Aaron says about this song "Wake up and see what the fuck is going on." Couldnt have said it any better myself.

My G-Spot The hate you feel wont go away. You're programmed to feel this way. To live another day within a world that loves to suffer

Track Value $4.50

9.) Safe Place: Aaron wrote this song for his wife. I enjoy it the same way I do "home." Similar song lyrically I guess you could say. Mostly being away from home and his wife... being on the road and such.

My G-Spot: Another day Inside my world I'm married to you and this road.
A road that never lets me sleep . So theres no way to escape the demons I am forced to keep.

Track Value : $3.00

10.) For You: It's too bad I didnt have this song growing up at home through high school. The lyrics hit me right in the face like a ton of bricks. I just started listening to this track... I dont know if I'll be able to stop for a while. Aaron wrote this song as he says "for the kids" Every kid in america will be playing this for their parents.

My G-Spot: Are my screams loud enough for you to hear me... Should I turn this up for you. I sit locked inside my head Remembering everything you've said

Track Value: $7.50

11.) Outside: For those of you who've heard the Live version of this song... you need to go to the store right now and buy this CD. The Studio version whoops its ass. If you want to be knocked on the floor... listen to Aaron sing the last part of this song. Every time I listen to this when I'm driving...I cant help buy scream it along with him.

My G-Spot: All the times that I've cried. All this wasted its all inside. And I feel all this pain. Stuffed it down its back again. And I lie here in bed... All alone I cant mend but I feel tomorrow will be ok.

Track Value $5.00

12.) Waste: Aaron wrote this song after being put in a real situation by a kid's mother. The boy had killed himself and was a huge fan of staind. The Mother came to Aaron for answers. Aaron wrote this song to the dead boy.

My G-Spot: Did Daddy not love you? Or did he love you just too much? Did he control you?
Did he live through you at your cost? Did he leave no questions for you to answer on your own?

WELL FUCK THEM!
AND FUCK HER!
AND FUCK HIM!
AND FUCK YOU!
For not having
The strenght in your heart
To pull through!

Track Value: $6.00 (For the genius of it all)

13.) Take it: The final track of this CD gives very simple advice "Take it" Whatever it is in life you aspire to do or have... Take it. Everything in life is right in front of our face.

My G-Spot I know that I am really not here to represent what I am not clear About in my head sometimes I feel fucked up just like you do - like you do

Track Value $4.00

Conclusion:

You may ask how I can value a CD so high. When I review CDs on Gyeah...I think how much would I really pay for that cd... per track. This is how it breaks down to me. Break the Cycle is worth EVERY penny. If you're listening to this shit on mp3... Go buy the god damn album. However, in this case...I'd pay almost any dollar amount for this CD. You cant put a price on this one.

Album worth: $60.00

Album price: $14.99
