Bright Nights Ahead.

A Review by

Vigilante

What happens when you take on the music industries super producers, and mesh him with a white rapper? Um...ok..wait, thats a bad scenario. We already know what happened the first time. But can lightening strike twice? This time instead of Dre & Eminem its Timbaland and Atlanta native Bubba Sparxxx. With his first single "Ugly" destroying all radio stations...one has to believe in this pairing as well. Does it pay off for an entire alum? Let me just say, this album is Lovely.

Take Off The first track acts as a intro of sorts where Bubba raps over the sounds of airplanes in the background. He raps metaphorically about how the captain (Timbaland) says its time for take off to his destiny. No hook, just Sparxxx going for it.

$2.50

Ugly First single, the track that put Bubba on the map. Rather you knew he was white or black didn't matter...you knew this track was hot. It still is, no matter how many times I've heard it.

$4.00

Any Porch An odd intro to say the least. Kind of funny, but nothing really to rate here.

$.00

Bubba Talk  – Another wicked Timbaland produced track (the man uses Horses neighing and cows mooing in the background). Anyway, this is a song that introduces Bubba's different ways of speeech...a track to better udnerstand Bubba. Was going to be the second Single, but the next track was opted instead. Both are hot...maybe this will be the 3rd.

$3.00

"Ya'll don't  know me at all. I say the same thing but slower than ya'll. A little southern drawl to top it off. Okee Dokee, its that Bubba Talk." - Bubba Sparxxx

Lovely The second single off this album FULL of singles. This track has some serious knock to it. On this Timbo track, Sparxxx repeats to everyone out there to give him a minute....and everyting will turn out lovely. This track is a lot more laid back than the first single, and just has a wicked flow to it.

$3.50

"Don't I look extra slick in this nautica. Just think, it was you that she bought it for. Now you lookin through receipts trying to audit her. Man this shit didn't really happen, I thought it up." - Bubba Sparxxx

Betty Betty If you've heard Bubba mention women throughout the rest of the cd, he has refered to women as 'Betty's'. So, that means this song has to deal with women. Bubba spits off the cuff about the kind of women he likes to do, what he wants to do with them, and where he wants to do it with them at.

$2.00

All The Same  – This is some Outkast type track..southern fun with some ol' G singing in the background. Here, Sparxxx says that white things and black things don't mean ish to him...its all the same. I hear ya Sparxxx.

$2.00

Get Right Whoa! Tim puts some heat on this track, and Sparxxx just damn abuses it. This is a club track without a doubt. Sparxxx has the ability to go from southern og tracks to wild ass party anthems like this. The track is gauranteed to get anyone with a pulse moving.

$4.00

Open Wide (ft. Sebastian) Timbaland blesses Sparxxx with another beat, this time for Sparxxx and his Timbaland's brother Sebastian. Sparxxx and Sebastian tell everyone from Betty's to Betty's to people ready for some dank to just get ready.

$2.50

Infected - Hilarious ass track where Bubba spits about sharing drugs with his friends and stealing neglected women from their men and getting them infected.

$3.00

"You could hit that betty raw, or bust a load off in her jaw. You could place her where she do do, or even lick her boo boo. See..I don't care what you do, just don't leave her neglected. Cuase is you fall asleep, I will leave her so infected." - Bubba Sparxxx

Twerk A Little (ft. Timbaland)  – Another dance track for Bubba to abuse, this time Timmy comes in to give him some assistance. Like the title and chorus said, they want to see ya'll poppin it...and twerk a little. The topic on this track refers to ladies in the strip club.

$3.75

"Tim been around em all. From white to black, even Mangolia." - Timbaland

"Still got a grand left. Can I let my hand rest, right there on your damn chest. Fondling your tan breast." - Bubba Sparxxx

"Thank you Timmy, I don't mind your sloppy seconds. But when I send her back to you, I bet you we both infected." - Bubba Sparxxx

Takem To The Water  – Its amazing how much Sparxxx has been affected by the OutKast sound...I LOVE that sound...and he does very good with it. On this track he basically lets all those who want to battle know that if they want it...he'll takem to the water.

$2.50

Well Water – A song where Bubba basically speaks on the trials and tribulations he had to go through to make it through life. This is one of those message/hot tracks that most ATL boys are known for. Bubba doesn't fail to keep up the tradition.

$3.00

1st Whatchacalit  – On this rather weak track, Sparxxx spits about how he's the first to do a lot of things..not music related. Just regular ish around the ATL. Its kind of funny, but it doesn't have anything to make you just listen to it over and over.

$1.00

Bubba Sparxxx - The self titled track on the album, and this track reminds me of the way people use to rap back in the days when hip hop first started. Cypher/ol school type of track with scratches in the background and everything. Here Sparxxx just spits on and on.

$2.30

Regardless – A bunch of artists on this album, where they all just spit whatever they want and whatever they feel..regardless of what people may think. What a refreshing track to hip hop. No one mentioning guns, how many hoes they got, how much ice they rock....it can still be done.

$3.50

If Its Bumpin – More pure funk coming from Sparxxx and some guests who aren't known. On this track, the boys spit about how they gon do everything, and if the radio in the club is bumpin..turn it up.

$2.50

Dark Days, Bright Nights – Title track to close off the album. Man, Sparxxx drops some knowledge about his life. That he thanks those who have been with him through the beginning, and those that hate him....though he may have a little rotation nowadays...there are still dark days, bright nights ahead.

$4.50

I am very impressed by the first effort from Bubba Sparxxx, and the first artist release from Timbaland's newly created Beat Club. Timbaland blesses Sparxxx with some of the most intense beats I've ever heard, but what makes this album even better. Unlike with Missy's album..Tim didn't do the entire lp. So Tim's sound is very evident, there are also many other sounds on the album which make the cd very well rounded. From Tim's southern funk to that Outkast southern style..this album has it all. It appears the world has yet another Producer/White Rapper combo to bow down to. Its gon get ugly.

Album worth: $49.55

Album price: $14.99
