| The reviewing GOD
known as Vigilante returns once again, this time hitting you fine viewers of Gyeah.com up
with yet another review on this September 11th (ARE THERE ENOUGH OF THESE?!). Anyway, this
review is of the long awaited new album from superproducer Kenny 'Babyface' Edmonds'.
Babyface has joined the new millenium, and has decided to work with the likes of the
Neptunes on this new joint. Does this ruin the artistic and musical feel of his previous
efforts? Outside In/Inside Out On this opening track, Babyface sings about a girl that has him going
inside out and outside in, and basically knocks him. This song gets tired really quickly,
and something so overall un-entertaining is a shocker coming from Babyface.
Track Rating: $.25
There She Goes This song caught me off gaurd the
first time I heard it. The people I thought were behind this ranged from Jon B to Michael
Jackson, but when the smoke cleared all signs pointed to the genius producer Babyface. On
this neptunes produced track, Babyface makes one for the clubs as he talks about a girl
that he sees he wants, and that he has to make his move on her before she goes. This track
is hot!
$2.50
What If This song puts Babyface back in the
position of writing a song, and this one drops some knowledge. Here, Kenny asks an ol girl
what if the two of them really were meant to be together. A nice little song thats
very easy to get into.
$2.50
"What if we were wrong about each
other? What if you were really made for me? What if we were suppsoed to be together?
Would that not mean anything? What if that was supposed to be my house that you go home to
everyday? How can you be sure that things are better, if you can't be sure your heart
ain't still here with me?" - Babyface
Stressed Out Another Neptunes track, and unlike "There She
Goes"..they borrow one of their Philly's Most Wanted beats, and recyle it for
Babyface. Anyway, this is a song about how thing will work out if they are meant to
be..so don't stress out. Its a real corny inspirational song.

Baby's Mama (ft. Snoop Dogg)
This track is HOT!!! On this song, Babyface breaks it down to all the men in the world
about how men need to show respect to mother of their child, even though she may be with
someone else.
$3.00
"They thew you in jail, for not paying your dues.
You couldn't even buy your son them new Kobe shoes" - Snoop Dogg
"Give her love and much respect, even if she's got a
man. Yo playa, you must understand that's yo baby's mama. Don't be no hata, it takes two
to make a kid. When the hell you gon' understand that's yo baby's mama." - Babyface
How Can U Be Down On this track, Mr. Face lets it down to the females that they need to watch
their friends cause they are trying to push up on her man and take anything from you that
will put you down.
$2.00
"How can u be down, she ain't down for you. Don't be so naive,
she's playin you. Why is she around, girlfriend just ain't cool. Tried to take your man,
now she's taking you." - Babyface
Work It Out As this title says, Babyface says he has the cash and the time for her to
get some free time so he can work it out and freak it on down. The hook makes this song
above being average, its OVERLY catchy.
$1.75
I Keep Callin - This song is hot, and has that ol school feel to it thanks to the horns and
synthensizer in tha background. Also, cause Face sounds a lot like Prince on this track.
Anyway, on this cut Face says that now that his girl is gone, things ain't been the same.
He can't get her out of his head, so he keeps callin her name.
$2.25
With Him On this ballad, Face sings about how his girl was sleeping with his best
friend, and wasn't being in the least bit discreet. Man, I feel for this guy, and its a
fictional story.
$2.00
"How could you fall in love with him? How could
you give your heart to him? Thought we'd grow old as lovers, together till the end. How
could you fall...fall in love...with him?" - Babyface
Wish U Was My Girl On this
little cute track, Face sings about how he wishes some lady was his girl. Its a decent
song, but in a day and age where this story/topic is talked about often..this one's a
little weak.
$.80
U Should Know - This song is where Babyface tells a young lady that he thinks she should
know that he thinks she is truly beautiful and irresitable. To bad he couldn't write her a
better song to show her incredible-ness.
$0.10
Don't Take It So Personal I'm noticing that this album is going downhill as we reach the end here. On
another simplistic song, Babyface sings that there is nothing wrong with him or this other
girl, but he already has someone else. Don't take it personal.
$0.50
Still In Love With You I almost fell asleep on this track, as there is hardly one redeemable
factor to keep my interest. On this song, Babyface says he is still in love with his ex,
and he doesn't know what to do. Blah blah blah.
$0.25
Lover and Friend Not a really solid way to end a cd, but not horrible either. A ol
school remake of sorts, where Face talks about how he will a woman's man, lover, and
friend. Had this sample not already been done to death, I would enjoy it a littl more.
$0.50
Face definately put on a solid effort
here with this album, but with the exception of a few tracks..nothing really blows you out
of the water like this man is usually capable of doing. Its pretty sad that in a day and
age where musicians are using less and less talent and more and more electronic equipment
and altered voices that a man who actually HAS musical ability reverts to their brand of
music. Its sad, but maybe next time Face will return to his musical roots.
