Glitter rhymes with Sh*tter

A Review by

Vigilante

A movie soundtrack turned into a solo album at the last minute does not a good cd make. Mariah Carey chimes in with another cd that will make the most loyal fans consider jumping ship. Let's take a look why:

Loverboy Remix (Da brat, Shawnta, Ludacris)  This song is wack. No getting around it. I mean, if this is the type of ish Mariah is going to be releasing from now on. I want no part of it. In fact, I want to sit her in a room with all her old cd's and see where the downhill cycle began. Anyway, on this unoriginal song, Mariah with the help of everyone you can think of, talks about how she loves 'him' and she wants him to be her loverboy. This songs poor sales is the reason she had a breakdown? Hell, I don't blame her.

$.25

Lead The Way OH MY GOD!! Mariah can still actually sing. I mean, not that ish where 35 people show up as guest artists. Her vocals are actually put to test here....its a miracle. Seriously, this song appears to be on some 80's type vibe, and reminds me of some things Mariah did back in her 'Music Box' days. Only difference there, those songs touched me emotionally somehow. This one does not have that effect.

$1.10

If We (ft. Ja Rule & Nate Dogg) I remember when Ja Rule had balls. I remember when he used to rap about hard shit. But now, every track he does is him with some r&b star signing/rapping. Its just horrible. Anyway, this song is really Ja Rule's and Nate Dogg's song, with Mariah doing hook. On an album that is YOURS, why are other people getting more airtime than you? Anyway, this song is kind of catchy, but because Ja Rule is EVERYWHERE right now..this song just pales in comparison to any of those. Hehe, and the kicker that's going to piss Mariah off. The song with Ja Rule and J-lo is ten times better.

$.60

Didn't Mean To Turn You On On this song, Mariah takes it ol school with some 80's type music again. I'm guessin this is the time period for the film of the same name. Anyway, the beat it very nostalgic and is a nice little change for Mariah. I wouldn't buy an entire album of her doing this, but one track is pretty cool.

$1.20

Don't Stop (ft. Mystikal ) Another remake track, and another track where Mariah just does the hook while Mystikal spits over the ol school beat. If you can get past the whole Mystikal's fast ass rapping on a slow ol school track..than this is the song for you. If not, you may want to pass. I however like this track the most out of eveything I've heard so far.

$1.75

All My Life –  Ok, you remeber two tracks ago when I said I couldn't take an entire album of this ol school ish. This is where I draw the damn line. This song blows. On this track Mariah sings about how all her life her love has been waiting for her loved one. It sounds like a remake that was probably an insult to the original.

$.05

Reflections – Mariah once again tunes up her chords in this ballad. This song appears to be like the main theme of Mariah's character in the movie of the same name. On this track, she sings about how she wonders did the people around her really care enough for her. A soulful song, and the best thing Mariah has done since "Thank God I Found You."

$3.00

Last Night A Dj Saved My Life (ft. DJ Clue, Fabolous & Bustah Rhymes)- Another track where Mariah gets assistant from an over abundance of people. This time Fabolous (who once again spells out his name in case you haven't learned it the first 70 times he's spelled it for us.) and Bustah Rhymes bring in the rhymes. This is another ol school track. This is one of those songs you go skating to, but wouldn't dare listen to in your car or in your radio just to be hearing. Also, this track is WAAAAAY too long.

$.75

Want You – No. These were the type of songs that always gave me headaches as a child. I don't know why, but they just made me feel nasueated every time I heard them. On this ol school track, Mariah tells a man that she wants him. There's a male singer on here with her, but he doesn't do a verse so its hard to decide exactly who it is. I'll say Carl Thomas though.

$.20

Never Too Far  – Mariah brings in another ballad as she sings about how she and her loved one are never too far away becasue she won't let time take away or anyone take her place, and that she'll always remember him. I would like this song if Mariah didn't change her voice inflection like 5 times throughout the song. Its a litlte distracting. Still a solid ballad.

$1.00

Twister - A track where Mariah says that she (her character I'm guessing) is caught in a twister in life, and that she has a lot to handle...and she guesses this is her time to say goodbye.

$.50

Loverboy The same song as earlier, minus some raps. Still equally painful to listen to. Make this mess end NOW!!

$.00

Mariah has outdone herself. I thought her last album was the worrst thing she's ever done, but nope. She has to go and outdue herself yet again, making this ENORMOUS piece of cow shit. Mariah fans of yesteryear, your days of Mariah are gone. I suggest you move on, and remember the Mariah that made you feel something in your heart.  Mariah fans of today...enjoy this drivel. Cause when the record sales come back from this album, this could be the last release we could hear from the drama queen.

Album worth: $10.40

Album price: $13.99
