Jagged Little Thrill

A Review by

Vigilante

The boys from the So So Def camp who brought us half hearted songs like "Let's Get Married" (We ain't gettin no younger girl, so we might as well do this) come with their third album entitled "Jagged Little Thrill". The first single off the album has the radio blazing, but true r&b fans and hip hop fans will need a lot more than that party fluff to get excited about. Lets see if this album can deliver.

The Saga Continues – This is an intro to the whole album, where Jagged Edge talks about how the Saga must continue...with Jermaine Dupri yelling his head off in the background. Nothing special to see here.

$.20

Where The Party At (ft. Nelly)This is the first single off of the album, and I understand why...because of the commercial rapper known as Nelly. Well, all people who know hip-hop don't really feel Nelly's Kiddy type ish...but it sells. So what can I say. The song is a decent party track, and would be even better had Nelly not been in the background saying 'Uh-oh' and come in with 16 bars of pure fluff.

$1.50

Goodbye – Jagged Edge slows it down on this track, and they slow it down to a crawling pace. Its just badly placed between the party track with Nelly and the party track with Ludacris. Anyway, this song talks about how they don't want to see their girl cry, but he knows that the girl needs to be with someone else..and they have to say goodbye. I say goodbye to this track.

$.30

Cut Something This is pure ATL flava here. On this track, Ludacris opens the track up on a dirty southern type beat then Jagged Edge comes in and sings about how that this girl and them need to 'cut something'....meaning that they need to hook up and do something.

$2.50

Girl Its Over –
This is the ballad singing version of Jagged Edge that Vig is here is used to.  On "Girl Its Over", JE sings about how its over cause the girl kept listening to her hating friends and ish. Now JE just wants their stuff back and their keys, and they're moving on.

$1.80

Can We Be Tight –  Why does this song sound more like  an ol school Blackstreet song than a Jagged Edge song. Anyway, this song has Jagged Edge moving on a girl who has just fell out of relationship asking the question of if they can be tight. Usually Jaagged Edge ballads come with the heat, this time they just seem to bland or unoriginal.

$.50

I Got It (ft. Trina) –  The fact that Jermaine Dupri comes in at the start of this song ripping a 'Pac saying' and changing "Shake it Cali" to "Shake it JE" makes me very hateful towards this track to begin with. On this track, JE tells the girl to tell them what they want from them, and that whatever they want...they got it. Then Trina comes in a does her freaky impression of Lil' Kim.

$1.10

Best Man - This song tells a story how JE's best friend went behind his back, after a long time friendship, and slept with his girl. Nice story, good message, but there's no real emotion or drive to get this song really to stick.

$1.50

Nothing Without You  –  Ok, I've come to a conclusion that JE needs to change something up to make all of the ballads sound less and less alike. On this track, JE sing about how they would be nothing without their girl in life.

$1.50

Driving Me To Drink - A song most males can relate to. Here Jagged Edge says that the bitchin, naggin, and screamin that their woman does is driving them to drink.

$2.50

This Goes Out  – This is a song for all those hustlers and women who do what they have to do to make ends meets. Finally, JE puts some heart behind their words.

$4.00

"This goes out to my girls in the strip club. Going all out just so their kids can eat grub. I ain't mad at ya, gotta do something. Hold yo head up, cause they can't touch ya."

No Respect – Another heartfelt song by JE, why do people put their best tracks at the end of their album. Ginuwine did it, now JE. Spread that ish out people. Anwyay, on this track JE talks about what kind of people they have respect for, and what kind they don't. This should be Vigilante's theme, cause I hold no repsect for the same people they don't respect.

$4.00

"I got no respect for them dudse that hit they women. I got no respect for them fools that lave their children. I just wanna take care of my family. Got no respect if you ain't trying to do the right thing." - JE

Head of this Household – On this track, JE talks about how they are the head of the household, and that everything he does he does it for his wife and kids. Vigilante likes this song a lot. Es muy beuno!

$3.50

Remedy – On this track, JE tries to return to its freakiness. Here, they say that they have the remedy to fix the wants on a woman's body. Nothins special here, but not a bad way to close off the album.

$1.50

This album is like most Jagged Edge albums. A ton of filler material, with two party tracks and two or three real ballads. If you're a fan of Jagged Edge, than this album will be a nice addition to their previous two. However if you like a little more meat to your r&b, check out the two female releases this week instead.

Album worth: $26.40

Album price: $14.99
