J-Records Does It Again.

A Review by

Vigilante

The second album to come out of the 'J records' camp. First was the newest music sensation, Alicia Keys's "Keys in A Minor". With the huge momentum behind her, and Jimmy Cozier's first single "She's All I Got"....Clive Davis's J Records has come out the gate firing. Can Jimmy C's first album continue the sucess? Let's see.

10 Love Commandments The first track on this album has Jimmy Cozier laying down the ten love commandments...one should never break them. This is some deep/hot ish, and definately some laws that Vigilante will be keeping close to his heart. Also, this appears to be a Wycles produced track...so like he did with City High. This is one of those message tracks with a nice groove.

$3.50

"Number 3, remember what you told that priest. Through sickness and in health. You said you'd always be with me." - Jimmy Cozier

So Much To Lose On this track Jimmy sings off many excuses to avoid telling his girl the truth. He can't tell her the truth, cause she's so much to lose.

$3.00

"Lost track of time hanging with the fellas. My jeep broke down, had to change the tires. My cell was off, didn't get the message. Should've just told her the truth, but I can't. Cause she's so much to lose." - Aaliyah

She's All I Got  – First single off the album, and I don't know if this song is just so hot..or if Vigilante can relate to this bastard so damn much. On this track Jimmy sings about his girl that drives him mad sometimes, he ain't lettin her go cause she's all he got.

$5.00

"Sometimes I love her, sometimes I love her not. I ain't lettin her go, cause she's all I got. Although she nags me and complains alot, I ain't lettin her go." - Jimmy Cozier

"With her I have grown, With Her home is home. I would never turn my back on my baby..I can't do that." - Jimmy Cozier

No More Playing Games Jimmy takes this bad boy to church in a way, as he basically gets some shit off his chest about he's no longer playing any damn games, and that he's no longe

$3.75

"Girl I'm tired of playing games with you. Keep it up and we gon be through. Since you wanna act like a god damn fool, then you wanna play like everythings cool." - Jimmy Cozier

Heartfelt Letter Here, Jimmy C sings about a heartfelt letter he has to write to his loved one who he did wrong, and wants back. This song is pretty hot, and very emotional. "If the ink ran out of this pen, I'd use my tears to fill it in." Man...talk about heartfelt.

$4.00

What The Deal  – A club/dance island type track where Cozier talks about how he met this girl and he wants to take her out  in his jeep, but he want to know what the deal..and if she come, come real. Not as heartfelt or deep as the other tracks, but kind of catchy.

$1.25

Two Steps  I heard this song somewhere before. Oh yeah, the Dr. Dolittle 2 soundtrack. Didn't like it then..don't like it now. On this dance track, Jimmy talks about whenever he takes on step foward...his girl takes two step back. Nice track, but no real substance

$.50

Cheated Cozier sings to his boy about a girl who cheated once, and will do it again cause she ain't no damn good.

$2.75

"Cause if she cheated on him, then she'll cheat on you. Don't listen to what she say, watch what she do. She's like a thief in the night, the way she keep people fooled. And like a worm in an apple, she gone eat right through." - Jimmy Cozier

Time Stands Still - Another Wyclef produced track. And wherever there is Wyclef, there is a message in the song. Here is no different. Here, Jimmy sings about how Time stands still for no one, and that he has to move on and get his. Nice message, but not really a good track.

$.50

Gave You Love  – On this unispired ballad, Jimmy sing about how he gave his woman love, money, ect and that she did him wrong.

$.50

Mr. Man  – The beat on this bad boy brings the heat. Bongos mixed with violins, and of course Alicia on the Ivories. On this track, Alicia and Jimmy change up their style a little to make an addictive song that people can just hum and listen to.

$5.50

Stay StrongOn this track, Jimmy C tries to get inspirational on us as he sends messages out there to mothers who don't have fathers to help raise their children, and anyone else who feels that life is coming down too hard. Keep your head up and stay strong.

$4.00

She's All I Got  – Same song as before, except for this time we get the hot vocals of Fabalous. WHERE THE FUCK IS THIS GUYS ALBUM?!?! Sorry...anwyay, the song is equally hot.

$5.00

Though Jimmy Cozier's self titled album doesn't flow all the way through as well as Alicia Keys's album, it certainly holds it's own. Jimmy Cozier brings thoughts and depth to most of his tracks, and certainly continues the eclectic r&b that has been so well created from Alicia, Jill Scott, Music Soulchild and the like. His  album has a couple of screw ups in the mix, but in no way do they take away from the overall enjoyment of this album.

Album worth: $39.25

Album price: $14.99
