The Third Act

A Review by

Vigilante

Bad Boy still exists? Apparently so, and it appears that it lives on through its R&B division. 112 have made a name for themsleves as of late, especially at the demise of Dru Hill, and the shaky comeback of Boyz II Men. Can they capitalize on the lack of male r&b groups?

Intro  Puffy comes in talking ish about Bad Boy, you know the deal. Then an old B.I.G. beat comes blaring in, while 'Q' from 112 comes in singing about how just a little 112 is all you need. Its a nice little intro, and any fan of bad boy would be pretty excited about what the rest of this album is going to be like.

Dance With Me   This is a nice little dance track, that ocmes pretty hard. Unfortunately, like most dance tracks...the song suffers lyrically. On this track the quartet talks about how they shouldn't be standing there alone, they should be dancing with me. Cute, but not really nothing to write home about.

It's Over Now The first single off the album, and if you haven't heard it by now. Its hot. This track is an addictive drug that should be consumed by all. The beat is hot, and the song hits home with a lot of people out there. This song talks about how messed up two people act when they break up. How f'n true!

"Baby its ashame we gotta go through this.We can't even talk, we don't even kiss. I never would've thought we'd be breaking up like this, but its over now." - 112

Peaches and Cream Second single, and this track is off the chain. All freaks in the world UNITE!! This is an upbeat freak track in the same vein as 112's track on their second album "Anywhere". I love this song.

"Peaches and cream. I need it cause you know that I'm a feen. Getting freaky in my bentley limosuine . Its even better when it's wit Ice cream, know what I mean." - 112

I Surrender (Interlude) 112 slows it down on this interlude, and try a little harmonizing. Its cool, just uneccessary.

Missing You – 112 takes it old school on this track, as they slow it down and sing this song in the style that our old school r&b bretheren would swoon the ladies. 112's vocal abilities have always been under a close eye from me, but they handle this song well. Here they talk about how much they are missing a girl, and asking her why she had to go away.

$1.75

All I Want Is You This is a futuristic 'a' beat, and the way the lyrics are said during the verses is pretty sweet. Here they talk about they don't care what all the girl has and does, all they want is her. Unfortunately, I'm not feeling this hook as much as everything else. And well, a hook is like 60% of a song.

$.75

Don't Hate Me (ft. Twista) - Like any track Twista is on, his style rubs off on the featured artists. It doesn't stop, as 112 sing at some rapid fire speed, and in some instance sound like a couple of members from Bone Thugs. Its sweet as hell, and seeing as how the song is an anthem for many men out there...it gets even better points on my end. Here, the boys tell men not to hate them case cause their girl wants to leave with them. Check yo b****! Words of wise men I tell you.

"Don't be mad if your girl wants to leave with me, its not my fault your girl is really feelin me. i didn't even know she had a man, said she did not have a man, said she did not want a man. So don't hate me." - 112

$3.00

Q, Mike, Slim, Daron (Interlude) – This is a catchy ass interlude, as the boys tell what they are looking for in women while repeating they names off in the background. I don't usually give interludes very high values..but this in an exception.

$1.00

Player – Another slow track, and a nice little ballad where the guys tell a girl that he's in playa mode now. But when he is ready to settle down, she'll be the first he calls. Awww, isn't that special?

$2.20

Sweet Love - On this track, the boys harmonizing about how they want to make love all night long until the sun rises. Quite a feat, I could imagine. But a pretty song none the less. If this track doesn't get you in the mood, you've spent far too much time pleasing yourself.

"I wanna make love. Sweet love. All night long, till the rising of the sun. Pull your body close to mine, it feels so right. Don't let go of me." - 112

$2.50

Smile – 112 sings another ballad here, as they tell a girl they believe thay have what it takes to make a girl who sits alone and cries smile. Damn, do these guys want to put out a week track on this album?

$2.00

Caught Up – Here the boys talk about how they got caught up in this situation with another girl, but they don't want to loose their main girl cause she's their world. This beat is catchy, and the lyrics relate to quite a few people, but its missing something to make it a standout track on this album.

$1.10

Do What You Gotta Do – Whoa, this song is wild. 112 talks about how they wanted to tell their girl about their other relationship

"I'm sorry I lied to you, but I'm not sorry I fell deep in love with her. Baby do what you gotta do." - 112

$2.00

I Think – 112 talks about how everyone says how wrong this girl treats her man, but they think she treats them just fine. Nothing special here.

$.75

Still in Love –  On this track, the guys tell a girl that they are still in love here....even with all the mess she puts them through. Who can't relate to this track??! I sure as hell can.

$1.80

It's hard to believe that Bad Boy is capable of releasing a good album. Especially in these years past. But one thing Bad Boy has always been able to do, is release great r&b artists. Carl Thomas, Faith Evans, and now 112 are the pinnacle that the Bad Boy empire stands on. 112's "Part 3" is a solid album from top to bottom, with something to wet the whistle of quite a few style of r&b. Oh, and don't worry. Puffy's only in the intro.

Album worth: $26.05

Album price: $13.99
