-REVIEW INTRO-

First it was Eminem, and then it was his band of misfits known as D12. Now, the city of Detroit gets another mc to step to the forefront of the rap game. Royce the 5'9". This man has been on the scene for quite some time, but it took some patience and dedication to finally get his album out to the masses. Does the self proclaimed king of Detroit have what it takes to match his fair skinned counterpart?

-TRACK RUN-DOWN-

1. It's Tuesday   – On this intro, Royce spits about how he's been taking his time in the industry and now its his time to come out and put his foot in the game's ass. So, go out their and cop his shit...it's Tuesday. (Album Release day for you slow ones). Nice intro.

$1.00

2. Rock City (ft.  Eminem) Royce makes an anthem for the folks here in the Motor City, and tells the truth about the city. He calls on his partner in crime Eminem to lace the hook, which is a smart thing....cause I'm afraid Eminem has the tendency to outshine any other artist he is on a track with. Keeping him to hook status gives us just enough Shady, and Royce the chance to shine on his track. Second official single.

$1.75

3. Getcha Paper  – I believe this track is produced by the Neptunes...and before you go freakin out. This is one of those hot ass Neptunes track..along the lines of 'Lapdance' and we don't have to hear Pherell's ass. This is a party track where Royce basically kills the track in unison with the beat..especially the 3rd verse.

$2.50

4. We Live Another club track that just loses something the rest of the cd was trying to establish. On this track, Royce spits about trying to get ladies and how he's the smoothest for the ladies. I understand he's trying to appeal to both men and women, but this track for the ladies is just weak.

$.20

5. You Can't Touch MeFirst single, and this song is about a year and a half old. No matter how old it is, its still a hot track that the Trackmasters blessed. Royce spits to this commercial track very well, and you would've thought that this song would've put Royce on the map as an artist...but Columbia screwed promotions of this track..and shoved his album further back from its original release.
$3.00

"Did I really fall out with Eminem? (chika) No. Did I really get dropped from Tommy Boy? (chika) No. Nigga please I use more tools the black and decker. Wrote songs for niggas for classic records." - Royce 5'9"

"5'9" is my height, if I was ever to grow. It'll be our little secret, nobody got to know. Diss me? You don't want the back and forth. Your jewelry look like the shit they sell in the back of the source." - Royce 5'9"

6. Let's Go (ft. Twista)  – Whoa! Where the fuck did Twista come from?! He's not listed on any guest artists. I guess he's about as obscure to Chicago as Royce is to us Detroit people. Anyway, anyone who knows Twista he's flow is some quick tempo shit. So, Royce follows suit and speeds up his flow....damn. Classic Track.

$3.50

7. D-elite (Tre,Cha Cha, Ja the 5'9", Cut throat, Nix) – This song will probably fall upon deaf ears, unless you live in Detroit. Most of these artists I've heard from before, and basically this is a cypher track featuring some of Detroit's finest but yet not discovered. In fact, only Cha Cha is the one I know with an album. It's a solid track that stars out with Royce spitting, and then the beat switching where the artists Royce touched on rip the very engaging beat.As each artist comes in, they state their name and let it go. Detroit's Elite.

$3.00

"You can not lie, deny these niggas ain't ra ra. Put the barrel on the bridge of your knows, and turn you cockeyed." - Cha Cha

8. She's The One (ft. Tre) – A futuristic little beat, where Royce and Tre rap about meeting  girl who lie about what she will do for what price, but then when it comes to doing the do she becomes a confused little child.

$2.25

"You can't detect sarcasm? Me, I detect a freak that likes orgasms." - Tre

9. Boom - The unofficial first single from the album. This song appeared on the wack ass Beyonce Knowles MTV film "Carmen". This is the true Royce in his original form. On an ol school beat, where he just spits on a classic Premier beat where he speaks about how he is about to blow up onto the scene.

$3.25

"I'm the next best to reach a peak, formally known as the best kept secret. I guess that I just leaked it."- Royce 5'9"

10. What Would You Do?A darker little track that gives some situations and ponders the question to you on the hook..what would you do if it were up to you. There is then a funny ass intro in the middle of the song that shows us what Royce would do. LOL...hilarious.

$1.50

11. Who Am I?  – On this track, Royce drops some deep rhymes on you as he spits as if he were the undeniable force of pain. Listen to this track more than once to catch all the plays on the thoughts of pain.

$3.00

12. Life (ft. Amerie) – This is Royce's song to his son, where he prepares him for life and tells him all the do's and don'ts in life. Another solid track,   that shows that Royce has many topics to him besides hoes and money.

$2.75

"I know you think I'm Superman. But I got weaknesses too. I  keep a firm leash on things by believing in you." - Royce the 5'9"

13. My Friend – Funny ass track where Royce raps about his friend..the friend that all males have. The 3rd leg. Hilarious shit.

$2.00

The Best Tracks: The Last Word(s):

I've had this album since November of last year, and I fail to understand why Columbia keeps bullshitting with its release. It's a VERY solid album. Sure it won't have the massive selling appeal that Shady did, but that's not going to happen overtime...and it really won't happen if you don't release the damn album. Quit dickin Royce around, and let the world hear this album. They deserve it with all the other b.s. that's out there in the world.

Album Worth:

$29.70
