Bad Boy Lives!

A Review by

Vigilante

Everyone knows the love lost real hip hop fans have for the legendary Puff Daddy..er..P.Diddy. He's a questionable producer, his rhyming abilities are suspect, and he's just an annoying ass bastard all around. Even though this may be the case, P. Diddy does know how to do one thing...and that's run a company. His last lp was a disgrace, and Puffy promised he would never release another album. Hell must've frozen over, as P.Diddy returns with his 3rd album. This time, Puff returns to the style his original album had...with the entire bad boy family. Once again, Puffy manages to show why he is THE king of longevity and like he always said....he can't stop. After hearing this album...he shouldn't.

The Saga Continues (P.Diddy, G Dep, Black Rob, and Loon) This track starts off with the "Chicago Bulls" entrance music, as P.Diddy uses the beat to introduce his bad boy team. This track is hot, and even P.Diddy comes through with a nice verse.  Rob's verse, however, takes the track down a little bit.

$3.00

Bad Boy For Life (P.Diddy, Black Rob, and Mark Curry) The second single off the album has become an anthem of sorts for the summer. The beat is something completely different from typical Bady Boy fare..I mean..its original. Curry comes the strongest on this track. Even if you hate Bad Boy, this song is too addictive to ignore.

$4.50

"We ain't, going nowhere. We ain't going nowhere, we can't be stopped now. Cause its bad boy 4 life."

"Ain't shit changed since the Notorious. See everything still glorious, we still got warriors, still be the victorious. See its a lot of them, but its more of us." - Mark Curry.

Toe Game (Black Rob & P.Diddy)Funny little interlude where Rob (in normal B.I.G fashion) is telling P.Diddy a story about this chick he met that said he said was freaky as hell, and wanted to suck his toes. He says, "I know my toe game ain't up to par" and he then says how that ish is just Crazy. Lead in to the next track.

$.35

That's Crazy (Black Rob, P.Diddy, & G Dep) This song follows the fashion of Rob's "Whoa" track where the line "That's Crazy" is repeated after every line of the rhyme. Its a nice little track, with a island-esque beat. Nothing breakthrough, but its not garbage either. Nicely placed between two hits.

$1.75

Let's Get It (G Dep, Black Rob, P.Diddy) First single from the album, that singlehandely brought G dep up from the underground, and put Puffy back in the spotlight after that court debacle. This song has a hot beat, and yet another track that shows Bad Boy may have some fire left in the oven. On this track, the bad boys talk about money..and how they got to get it.

$4.00

"Make this money, take this money. Ain't no way you can take this from me. Ain't shit funny, shake it honey. Can't get money.. now Let's Get it."

Shiny Suit Man (P.Diddy)  – P.Diddy gives a little interlude time to the haters (LOX and other rappers) who have laughed and scoffed at his shiny suit wearing ass. He says, don't say "Shiny Suit Man"...call him by his name if they really men.

$.30

Diddy (P.Diddy & The Neptunes) From the second this beat dropped, I KNEW P. Diddy had nothing to do with it. Then, the shout out to Neptunes aided me in my belief. P.Diddy comes in and spits to the speed of the beat, and creates a hot dance/fun track. I guess the Neptunes can make anyone hot...first Ray J, now Diddy.

$2.25

Blast Off (G Dep, Mark Curry, Loon) - A futuristic beat, that may have actually been done by Puffy, as he does his normal ad libbing in the background. This song is true hip-hop at its best, as Dep, Curry, and Loon all drop incredible verses. This Curry fellow is really impressing me, and I want to hear an entire song from Loon like NOW!!

$3.00

Airport (P. Diddy & The Family)  – Um..I don't even know what the hell this is. Its a 29 second interlude where he hear an airplane flying by, then a car door slamming. What a waste of 29 seconds.

$.00

Roll With Me (Eightball, P.Diddy, MJG, and Faith Evans)  – Bad Boy just took it down south, with the Suave House pimps Eightball and MJG. This is laid back pimp track, where Faith fits in perfectly with the hook. P.Diddy's voice however is a little to off from 8ball and MJG..and kind of ruin the pimpyness of this track. Still, if you cut the volume all the way down when P.Diddy's verse comes in..you'll be ok.

$1.50

On Top (P. Diddy, Loon, and Marsha) I'm beginning to think that everytime we start to count Puffy adn Bad Boy out, he has someone as an ace up his sleeve to completely negate all we thought of him. Loon is that 'ace', and P.Diddy  has quite the hand this time around with Rob, Dep, Curry and Loon. On this track, Loon is having fun with this 'reggae' type track that Shyne would've loved. This track is hot, and would be even better had P.Diddy let Loon have it all to himself.

$2.50

"Yo I'm a gangsta, outlaw. Indoor Outdoor. Nigga tell me right, Loon going south paw. Its bad boy, we don't give a fuck about yall. Step in the room, see the bitch come up out ya'll." - Loon

Where's Sean? (P. Diddy, Bad Azz Ko, Black Rob, Kain, Loon, Mark Curry, and Bristal)  – Good Lord!!! Are there enough people on this track?!? Anyway, this song is HOT. On this track each mc hops on the mic to tell a piece of a story, then the next mc comes in and continues the story to piece it all together. This track is BLAZING!.

$5.00

Child of the Ghetto (G Dep) - Dep all to his own on this track...wish Loon had this honor. Anyway,  with these last few track...these new Bad Boy members really have what it takes to take Bad Boy back to what it was when B.I.G. was alive. This song is hip-hop, and shows why Dep was such a strong force underground. P.Diddy is the man to take him to the next level.

$2.75

Incomplete (P. Diddy & Cheri Dennis)Another interlude, where P.Diddy gets a call from his woman who's sweating him about how much time he's spending in the studio.

$.20

So Complete (Cheri Dennis)  – A change of pace here, as Bad Boy goes to one of P.Diddy's new artist in the genre of music that has kept the BBoy name alive these last few years...R&B (Carl Thomas, Total, Faith, & 112). Here Cheri sings about how she's so complete when her man's around, and that she's tired of being treated so bad and incomplete without her man's kisses and lovin. This song is kind of hard to determine Cheri's vocal ability, but this song is pretty solid, and gives us a nice change of pace from all the hip hop prior.

$2.50

Smoke (P. Diddy)  – An interlude of P.Diddy inhaling some smoke, and coughing it up like a girl. Then he says how thats the chronic, and a girl corrects him saying "Naw, that's that purple haze". Um...whateva.

$.10

Lonely (P.Diddy, Kain, Mark Curry, Kokane)  – This track has P' Funk all over it. On this track , the Bad Boy rap about how sometime they feel like they are all alone at the top. Its pretty hot, but it seems more like a track that belongs on Dr. Dre's compilation albums then bad boy. In fact, the second MC sounds very similar to a white MC from Detroit.

$2.50

I Need A Girl (P. Diddy, Loon, Mario Winans, Lo, Jack)  – Can you believe that Mario Winans is apart of the Bad Boy camp? Its wild...P.Diddy is covering ALL bases of the music world. On this track, Loon, Diddy, Lo, and Jack rap about how they need a girl that would do any and everything for her man.

$3.25

"I need a girl who would ride for me (keep herself real fly). .Damn near die for me (staying by my side.) Go to court for me (stand up and cry).Pay my bail for me, make sales for me." - Mario Winans

Nothing's Gonna Stop Me Now (Faith Evans, Mario Winans, P.Diddy)  – This is basically a long interlude, where Faith and Mario sing in the background about how nothings going to stop them now and P.Diddy talking over them about how God has given him the strength to continue on.)

$1.00

If You Want This Money (P. Diddy, G Dep, The Hoodfellaz)  – Here, Bad Boy tells you that if you want this money, then let me know if you gon ride or not.   Everyone comes with some solid lines on this track, even P.Diddy. Not a spectacular track, but definately one that won't be forgotten due to some memorable lines.

$2.50

"Ya'll better off making sure poppy know your name well. Guess who ghostwrite for me, my brain cells." - Hoodfellaz

"I told yall its on for life. The only bars I'll ever be behind is the ones I co-write." - P.Diddy

"Niggas mad at the fact we back. Man I won't stop like a New York taxi cab." - G Dep

I Don't Like That (Bristal & Mark Curry)  – This interlude is funny ish where Bristal and Mark Curry say some funny ass ish about how Bad Boy is nice and all, but they don't like. that.  "Fuck #8".

$1.00

Back For Good Now (P.Diddy, Black Rob, Loon, and Cheri Dennis)  – At heart, this track is a dance track...but Loon and Rob throw some nice rhymes over the catchy ass hook. Unfortunately, the song goes to hell for a moment when P.Diddy decides to change the beat and rap over it. Luckily it returns to the original beat, but you really can't get the middle part of the track out of your head. I will agree with Loon, Rob, and Diddy though...Bad Boy is back for Good now.

$2.00

Can't Believe (Carl Thomas & Faith Evans)  – I really wish P.Diddy had kept Shyne's part on this song. It was some of the best lines I've ever heard come from Shyne's mouth. Anyway, with or without him..this song is hot. It is apart of Vigilante's daily music rotation. On this track, the two r&b stars sing back and forth about how they can't believe its all over.

$4.50

"You gave me reason to believe that we were always meant to be, but now I see that you wrong. You can't keep running back to me with all those 'baby baby pleases' no more." - Faith Evans

The Last Song (P.Diddy, Bad Azz Ko, Loon, Bristal, and Mark Curry)  – Wow, can you believe it. This album DOES have an ending. Probably the weakest track on the album (guess they ran out of heat after 23 tracks). Anyway, this song doesn't suck...its just not packing as much punch as anything before it. No wonder its the last song.

$1.00

Thank You (P.Diddy & The Bad Boy Family)  – No, this is not the hot gospel track featuring everyone and their mother by the same name. Its just P.Diddy saying thanks to all the peeps out there..and a 'miss you' message to B.I.G.

$.20

You can hate Puffy all you want, but you certainly have to have some respect for the man. Hearing this album, you will notice that Bad Boy is far from dead...in teh words of Jigga..they've RELOADED. Even though they've lost Shyne, BBoy has Gdep, Black Rob, Mark Curry, and Loon as the next wave of Bad Boy MC's. All of them are tight, and all of them have a style unlike the other. Puffy already brought the heat with the r&b scene with 112, Total, Faith, and Carl Thomas...now they added the megga power writer and producer Mario Winans to the camp. And lets not forget the Bad Boy's pop sensation (and Vigilante's worst enemy) Dream. Bad Boy looks set to do big things in the future, and this album marks the beginning. This album may not go down as a classic album like "No Way Out" did, but it certainly stands right up along side of it. B.I.G would be proud, and like the title says...the Bad Boy Saga Continues.

Album worth: $51.65

Album price: $15.49
