| -REVIEW INTRO-Tweet
has had a hard time to get her sound out to the masses. After 10 years of getting the door
closed on her every which a way, after the times were extremely hard and the thought of
suicide crossed her mind. Tweet re-united with once musical friend Missy Elliott. Missy
took Tweet and placed her on her Gold Mind, hooked her up with her best friend
Timbaland...and the rest is history. Now, on the verge of one of the hottest singles on
the chart today. Tweet releases her debut album "Southern Hummingbird". Does the
cd continue the success of the first single, or is she another one hit wonder?
-TRACK RUN-DOWN-
1. Southern
Hummingbird (Intro)
Tweet comes in on this intro with a poem talking about how she has
had both extreme ups and downs, and she has so much to say. As every door shut, she just
wanted to sail away...like a Southern Hummingbird 5. Always Will Tweet tickles the guitar strings again on this
track, as she tells her man that he has been loving her for along time..and she bets he
always will. A simple song that gets heart from Tweet's emotional connection, and the
sound of the guitar strings in the back. This song is hot. 7. Oops Oh My (ft. Missy Elliott) Timbaland is
a God. There is no other way to say it. This beat is just sick. On this anthem to
the "unspoken" female art form of masturbation, Tweet lays it down for everyone
that its ok for the girls to join in on the fun. 8. Make Ur Move Timbaland does an ol school beat here, and this
probably will go down as the weakest track on the album. And, its not awful...just nothing
thought provoking like some of the other tracks..and the track isn't hype enough to get
people excited. 10. Beautiful I'm not sure exactly whom Tweet is talking to on
this track. I guess it was left open to the listeners mind. Tweet says that she can get
caught up when she looks at someone when she sees someone. I listened to this song three
times in a row....I had that 'you' being pegged as a man, God, and herself. Either way,
this song is very..well...beautiful 14. Drunk This track has that 'Prince' vibe to it so
much. Here, Tweet talks sings about what most college students do on the weekend. In the
first verse, she says she rather be drunk than to be sober. Second verse, she is drinking
and getting high, and then on the third verse she says she broke and drunk..and says she
should have listened to her conscience and stayed sober. 15. Southern Hummingbird (Outro) Tweet
gives her shout outs to her friends and haters, and has some fun as she realizes her dream
has finally been accomplished. 16. Sexual Healing (Ooops Oh My
pt. 2 ) (ft. Ms. Jade and Timbaland) HOLY
SHIT!! Tim and Missy's protégé's put together on this track, and Timbaland gives them a
nice little track to run with. On this sequel to Ooops oh my, the girls continue to speak
on female self gratification. Jade rips this track. 15. Big Spender Missy Elliott decides to be extra generous
on this already classic album, by just putting a Timbo and Missy collabo on this cd. And I
must say, its a rather hot ass joint. It has a 'Moulin Rouge' feel to it at start and at
chorus, but Missy comes in with her classic flow on the verses where she spits all the
people who are big Spender's in the industry..and how she and Timbo don't have to do that
and still stick around the game. |
| The Best Tracks: | The Last Word(s): I haven't had an album that just blew me away from head to toe in a very long time. Finally that album has arrived. It would probably be best to say that the first single is NOTHING like the entire album is. Tweet is a much smarter artist then her first single implies. That song was just to get people's attention. Once she has it, she nails you over the head with an album that meshes a female D'angelo with one of the illest producers in the industry. And, like with Bubba Sparxxx, Timbaland only touches about 4 tracks on the album. The rest are produced by Tweet and other producers. This album is the grown r&b lover's wet dream. Tweet belongs in the class with India Arie and Alicia Keys. Oh My! Album Worth: $52.80 Album price: $13.99 |
