-REVIEW INTRO-

Tweet has had a hard time to get her sound out to the masses. After 10 years of getting the door closed on her every which a way, after the times were extremely hard and the thought of suicide crossed her mind. Tweet re-united with once musical friend Missy Elliott. Missy took Tweet and placed her on her Gold Mind, hooked her up with her best friend Timbaland...and the rest is history. Now, on the verge of one of the hottest singles on the chart today. Tweet releases her debut album "Southern Hummingbird". Does the cd continue the success of the first single, or is she another one hit wonder?

-TRACK RUN-DOWN-

1. Southern Hummingbird (Intro)   – Tweet comes in on this intro with a poem talking about how she has had both extreme ups and downs, and she has so much to say. As every door shut, she just wanted to sail away...like a Southern Hummingbird

$.30

2. My Place On this track, Tweet sings about how she has come to the realization that she is ready to make love to the man she loves. She says she has made him wait long enough, and now its time for him to come over to her place. A very laid back track that is so easy to get caught in.

$3.00

"I've made you wait, so patiently. Now's the time come share with me. I've teased you so..those days are gone. Come over, it's on. And you don't have to wait no more." - Tweet

3. Smoking Cigarettes  – Tweet sings about how a man that she is not apart from has left her nervous and trembling, and the only way she can cope with it is by smoking cigarettes at night. This girl Tweet is on some next level stuff.

$3.50

"I can't forget your ways, I still remember our first kiss. You got me nervous and trembling, smokin cigarettes at night. Wondering where you been. Smokin cigarettes at night."

4. Best Friend (ft. Bilal)  WHO CAN'T RELATE TO THIS SONG?!? On this track, Tweet and Bilal sing back and forth on how they've been best friends, and how they can relate so well with each other. But they are both hiding their true feeling towards each other.

$3.75

5. Always WillTweet tickles the guitar strings again on this track, as she tells her man that he has been loving her for along time..and she bets he always will. A simple song that gets heart from Tweet's emotional connection, and the sound of the guitar strings in the back. This song is hot.

$3.25

6. Boogie Tonight  – Tweet speeds the cd up a little bit here, with an ol school dance number here. I usually falter people for ol school dance numbers, but you can't help but start bouncing to this track. I can see people doing some new kind of hustle to this song in droves.

$2.75

7. Oops Oh My (ft. Missy Elliott) Timbaland is a God. There is no other way to say it. This beat is just sick.  On this anthem to the "unspoken" female art form of masturbation, Tweet lays it down for everyone that its ok for the girls to join in on the fun.

$3.50

"But this body felt just like mines. I got worried. I looked over to the left a reflection of myself. That's why I couldn't catch my breath." - Tweet

"Ooops there goes my shirt up over my head. Ooops there goes my skirt droppin to my feet. Ooo some kind of touch caressing my legs. Ooo,  I'm turning red..who could this be?" - Tweet

8. Make Ur MoveTimbaland does an ol school beat here, and this probably will go down as the weakest track on the album. And, its not awful...just nothing thought provoking like some of the other tracks..and the track isn't hype enough to get people excited.

$1.00

9. Motel - I think Tweet was just giving us a breather for this track. DAMN! On this track, Tweet sings about how she sees the guy she was with the previous night going into a motel with another woman.
$4.50

"Do I wanna blow this score or just relieve you with this freak. But I turned and walked away, and these 3 words began to speak. Go to hell baby, cause I know I saw you go into a Motel." -Tweet

10. BeautifulI'm not sure exactly whom Tweet is talking to on this track. I guess it was left open to the listeners mind. Tweet says that she can get caught up when she looks at someone when she sees someone. I listened to this song three times in a row....I had that 'you' being pegged as a man, God, and herself. Either way, this song is very..well...beautiful

$3.50

11. Complain  – I love this song so much. Tweet sings about all the things she would do and would give up, if she could have her man back in her life.

$4.50

"If you just wanna hang out with the boys (I wouldn't complain). I wouldn't make a fuss, no not a noise (I wouldn't complain).Leave your socks on the dresser and not in the drawer (I wouldn't complain). Just as well if you want to watch your favorite sport baby (I wouldn't complain)." - Tweet

12. HeavenThis song speaks as a growth moment for Tweet. On this songs, she says that since she has left someone/something behind her life feels just like heaven.

$3.25

13. Call Me – Remember that Timbaland is God thing I said a little while ago....he still is. This beat is on some middle eastern vibe that is truly indescribable. This is the cd's second single, and the song speaks about how Tweet has a current man...but is waiting on that call from the other guy to make that booty call.

$3.50

"Call me at the break of dawn, I'll be sure to meet you with no panties on." - Tweet

14. Drunk – This track has that 'Prince' vibe to it so much. Here, Tweet talks sings about what most college students do on the weekend. In the first verse, she says she rather be drunk than to be sober. Second verse, she is drinking and getting high, and then on the third verse she says she broke and drunk..and says she should have listened to her conscience and stayed sober.

$4.00

"Did I drink too much, cause the road's all lop-sided. I only drove a small way. I thought I swore not to take this ride, now my air's being pumped and I'm drenched in tears. I don't wanna peel over, I just wanna be sober." -Tweet.

15. Southern Hummingbird (Outro) – Tweet gives her shout outs to her friends and haters, and has some fun as she realizes her dream has finally been accomplished.

$.00

16. Sexual Healing (Ooops Oh My pt. 2 ) (ft. Ms. Jade and Timbaland) – HOLY SHIT!! Tim and Missy's protégé's put together on this track, and Timbaland gives them a nice little track to run with. On this sequel to Ooops oh my, the girls continue to speak on female self gratification. Jade rips this track.

$4.75

"I don't know if its this drink or what that got me thinkin all kind of crazy thoughts about touchin myself. And wettin myself, loving myself. That's so nasty. I wonder would happen if I didn't have me. Probably wake up satisfied and energized. The co-founder of do it yourself Renaissance." - Ms. Jade

15. Big Spender  – Missy Elliott decides to be extra generous on this already classic album, by just putting a Timbo and Missy collabo on this cd. And I must say, its a rather hot ass joint. It has a 'Moulin Rouge' feel to it at start and at chorus, but Missy comes in with her classic flow on the verses where she spits all the people who are big Spender's in the industry..and how she and Timbo don't have to do that and still stick around the game.

$3.75

The Best Tracks: The Last Word(s):

I haven't had an album that just blew me away from head to toe in a very long time. Finally that album has arrived. It would probably be best to say that the first single is NOTHING like the entire album is. Tweet is a much smarter artist then her first single implies. That song was just to get people's attention. Once she has it, she nails you over the head with an album that meshes a female D'angelo with one of the illest producers in the industry. And, like with Bubba Sparxxx, Timbaland only touches about 4 tracks on the album. The rest are produced by Tweet and other producers. This album is the grown r&b lover's wet dream. Tweet belongs in the class with India Arie and Alicia Keys. Oh My!

Album Worth:

$52.80

Album price: $13.99

  • #1-17. - I honestly can't fit all the songs that are supreme on this album in this tiny ass section.
