-REVIEW INTRO-

Nas has been the biggest disappointment in the rap game these last few years. People knowing the man has more talent than 3/4 of the game today, and releasing album after album of sub-par material was making Nas one of the biggest rappers to drop off the face of the earth. Then, on recent soundtracks and compilation...Nas began to show signs of hope. There was still some 'Illmatic' left in him. So, with the name of this album being "Stillmatic"...which Nas is going to step up to the mic?

-TRACK RUN-DOWN-

1. Intro – On this track, Nas blesses this track as if he's been reborn to the rap game. No hook, just straight up rhymes. He says that everyone says that he can't outdo Illmatic, but he doesn't go backwards but here's another classic. This is probably the best start to a Nas album in a few years.

Track Rating: $1.50

2. Ether Any track that starts off with Fuck Jay-Z gets props in my book. On this track Nas tells the rappers who have stolen his ether and to return his shit. On this track, he basically makes Jigga look like a homo. Not a hard task, but he just takes it to another level.

$5.50

"First Biggie's your man, then you got the nerve to say that you're better than Big. Dick suckin lips, won't you  let the late great veteran live." - Nas

"Foxy got you hot, cause you kept your face in her pus. What you think you getting girls now cause of your looks." - Nas

"Eminem murdered you on your own shit. You a dick ridin faggot, you love the attention." - Nas

3. Got Yourself A Gun On this track, Nas says that those who come at him..he hopes they got themselves a gun. Cause he's coming back with his.

$3.75

"My first album had no famous guest appearances. The outcome? I'm crowned the best lyricist. Many years on this professional level. Why would you question who's better. The world is still mine." - Nas

4. Everybody's Crazy Here, Nas spits about how everyone thinks he's changed and thinks he's something he never claimed to be. He says that everybody's crazy. This hook is hot, and as the beat. However, the first verse has this song going in one direction and the last two go in another. If would've been interesting if the original verse was the topic all the way through.

$2.00

5. You're The Man A rather odd hook here, but Nas's manages to save the track with his lyrics. He spits about how he had to keep a close eyes on his enemies who tried to become what he is, and then talks about shady ass women who try to get him caught up. But, no matter, he's still the man.

$2.00

6. Rewind – Man, one hell of an original track. Nas spits a story/poem in rewind. Meaning the events are taking place from finish to beginning. This is the Nas I know, dropping some off the wall deep ish.

$5.00

7. One Mic Intensity builds during this track, as Nas says that all he need is one mic.

$3.50

8. 2nd Childhood - Nas uses an ol school beat to spit over, while he spits about a man's childhood. Then he talks about a 31 year old man who is doing the same thing like mooching on his moms, failing out of school, and not being able to give up his youth. Thus, living in his second childhood.

$4.00

9. Destroy and Rebuild  – This is a track where Nas talks about having to save Queens from some fake/weak rappers. So, he has to destroy and rebuild Queen's.  He rips on Cormega, Prodigy, Nature.

$5.00

10. The Flyest – Nas basically gets a little commercial here, saying how he's the flyest gangstas with pinky rings, hoes, and dough. This hook is overly corny, and just puts a small stain on this stellar cd.

$.50

11. Braveheart Party (ft. Mary J. Blige) - After the awful 'Oochie Wally' from these Braveheart fella's...I thought Nas was a dead man walking. This song isn't much better, but not nearly as awful. The fact that the hook  and beat on this track give a little salsa dancin vibe to it.

$1.50

12. Rule  – Taking a sample from an ol school song titled "Rule the World", Nas drops some words about how we need to stop this killing and how all this hate can't last forever, and stand together for the world. I thought Vigilante was the only person who still felt this way.

$3.75

13. My Country - Here, Nas tells a story of people who believe that this wonderful world has dealt us a horrible hand in this game of life.

$3.50

"My country shitted on me. She wants to get rid of me. Cause of things I've seen, cause of things I've seen." - Nas

14. Poison - Here, Nas says that everything we do in life is some form of poison to life. Nas puts his intellectual hat back on with this track.

$4.00

15. Every Ghetto (Bonus Track) - On this bonus track, Nas and some guest artists spit about the struggle and pain they go through in life, and how they struggle each and every day to wake up in the morning.

$2.20

The Best Tracks: The Last Word(s):

Nas could only go in one direction with this album, and that's up. After the horrid Oochie Wallie, and the less than stellar last two cd's..Nas had one final chance to regain faith in his followers. With this cd, he does that and then some. Nas has more hits on this album than his last 3 combined. "Stillmatic" is a cd that belongs in any person that considers themselves a hip hop fan.
