| -REVIEW INTRO-If anyone really knows Vigilante here, they will know that deep under all
the rap and r&b alums he has, there is a small collection of Jewel albums that hold a
special place in his heart. That's right, Vig loves Jewel's music. So, when i got wind of
Jewel's newest album...I litterally urinated on myself. After a quick shower, I slapped
this new cd in the stereo, laid back, and let the folk music penetrate my ear drums. Is it
as nice as her previous efforts?
-TRACK RUN-DOWN-
1. Standing Still On this, the first single of the album, Jewel asks a man if he needs her like she needs him, or is he passsing her by while she stands still. Its so good to have some new material from my girl JewelTrack Rating: $2.50 2. Jesus Loves You Jewel asks the question that we all wonder some time in life. Does Jesus love us? She gives different scenarios, and lists different luxuries people have that she does not..and asks if he loves them as much as he does her. Nice thinking piece.$2.75 3. Everybody Needs Someone Sometime Jewel gets a little more country on this track, as she sings stories about people who are lonely and how even they need someone.$1.75 4. Break Me A beautiful song where Jewel sings how sensitive and fragile she is, and she is giving her man the word to break her. This song almost brings a tear to my eye. Someone put that damn Timbaland cd back in.$3.00 5. Do You Want To Play? This is a track that could give Jewel some major radio airplay, as it has a very catchy riff and hook., and is something I can see a lot of people vibing to. This is a song about a young ladies life. Almost reminds me of something Prince would sing.$2.80 6. Till We Run Out of Road This track, says that she is leaving again. And she will just be going on till she gets too old or runs out of road.$2.00 7. Serve The Ego On this track, Jewel taps in more to her rock side. She talks about how we are always looking in the mirror and those of prominence in society, and that we are all one big group serving the ego. $3.50 8. This Way - Title track on this album, Jewel ssays that she is in love and she doen't want anything to change. She doesn't want to move, breathe, as long as they (she and her man) stay this way. Vigi likes this song a lot.$4.00 "Say that you'll stay forever this way.
Forever and forever, that will never have to change. Don' t move, don't breathe. Don't
change, don't leave. Promise me, say "You'll stay..we'll stay this way." - Jewel 9. Cleveland A happy little song where Jewel talks about all the things she wants to do with her man, and how everything is only an inch a way. A little corny song, bu somehow Jewel manages to pull it off.$1.75 10. I Won't Walk Away Here Jewel, says that her love may be strained, but she will not walk away. A very pretty song, with some nice piano chords in the background. Very soothing.$2.00 11. Love Me, Just Leave Me Alone - Jewel sings about a man who she loved, but didn't love her in return. This is another one of Jewel's tracks that would get her really over with the crowd. It crosses into several different genre's of music as well.$3.25 12. The New Wild West What's funny is that my dad and I often refer to this world as the New Wild Wild West because of the wild ish that goes on in this world. Well, that's what Jewel does with this song. Its hot ish too.$3.75 13. Grey Matter - Jewel gives us a live bonus track, where she sings about a man that flatters her by his grey matter (don't tell me I have to explain that to you).$1.75 14. Sometimes It Be That Way - Another live bonus track from Jewel, where the folk singer says that she is sorry for some of the things she says..but oh well..sometimes it be that way. This sounds like a Vigilante theme song.$2.20 |
