-REVIEW INTRO-

The man with those wild bo's is back with his sophomore lp. His first single, "Roll Out" is getting some mixed reviews, and that is not a good thing when you're tying to fight the sophomore jinx. Can Luda recreate the success he had with "Back for the First Time"? Or is his 'Word' meaningless?

-TRACK RUN-DOWN-

1. Coming To America  This track is the way rap albums should start. F' an intro, bring the heat from the start with a track that will knock you on your ass. The beat on this track is wild, and increases in speed towards the end of the track. The name of the song comes from its "recreation" of the Eddie Murphy film, therefore there is a royalty type of feel to the beat.

Track Rating: $2.50

2. Rollout (My Business) This song was garbage to me the first time I heard it, and even though the it has grown on me a little since then..it still ain't as good as Ludacris can come with. But, Timbaland did bless the beat.  Here, Luda addresses the haters out there in the world.

$1.00

3. Go To Sleep (ft. I-20/Fate Wilson/Three 6 Mafia) I hate stupid songs like these. This is a 3 six mafia style song (some wack is along the lines of Bia Bia), that is just awful. Ludacris, and a bunch of wack rappers that tell hoes to go sleep over and over again.

$.05

4. Cry Babies (ft. Scarface) I'm starting to get a bad feeling about this album. More awesome beats, but this style of rapping has to be a lot more creative than saying "I caught him with a blow to the chest. My hollow put a hole in his vest.I'm about to send two to his dome. Cry babies go home"  He still has witty as rhymes, its just they aren't as effective as they were when he was first coming to the light.

$1.75

5. She Said On this song, Luda sings about how some girl is lying and saying she is a virgin, and never tried. This chorus is awful, and makes a song that could be pretty damn good just boring.

$.50

6. Howhere – First skit on the album, and basically Luda and a friend are on the phone talking to each other in 'ho' talk. In the end Ludacris says that he can't come scoop his boy up cause he's in the middle of howhere.

$.50

7. Area Codes (ft. Nate Dogg) This song is pretty well known all ready. And normally, I wouldn't give songs that have been on soundtracks first this high of a rating. But since its about the only good track I've heard on here so far. I can make an exception.

$3.00

"I've got hoes. In different area codes." - Nate Dogg

8. Growing Pains (ft. Fate Wilson/Keon Bryce) - On this song, Fate and Luda rap about the things they had to go through when growing up. It samples an old school song, and just has a very nice vibe to it. The best new track on the album.

$3.20

9. Greatest Hits – Funny ass skit where Luda has a public service announcement where white people are singing his greatest hits off beat as all hell. Its rather funny stuff.

$1.50

10. Move Bitch (ft. Mystikal & I-20) Another stupid sounding song with a repetitive hook, and a infectious beat that makes the repetition more memorable. Mystikal and Luda do fine on the track, but that I-20 needs to do what the song tells him

$2.00

11. Stop Lying - Another skit where a man tries to spit game to a women, and keeps having people in the background mess up his game by catching him in lies. When his momma picks up, that's hilarious.

$1.00

12. Saturday (ft. Sleepy Brown)A song that represents the wild things that occur on the greatest day of the week. Its the anthem for Saturday. I just wish Cris could come with a little something more.

$1.75

"Sytem on blast. Cops just passed. Just need a big ol ass." - Ludacris

13. Keep it on the Hush (ft. Jazze Pha) - With this song, Luda says that it ain't go be no talking when he doing his thing. So keep it on the hush. A solid track. This song ends up going to "church"...funny ish.

$2.75

"Keep it on the Hush. Don't say nothing. Ain't gon be no talking, when I'm doing my thing." - Jazze Pha

"I'm a taste your neck, and begin to nibble around your ear lobe. Down to your belly button. Then I'm going to unsnap your bra, thinking your titties is tryin to tell me something." - Ludacris

14. Word of Mouf (ft. 4-ize) - A "freestyle" from Cris and 4-ize that takes hip-hop back to the ol school flava that it was created with. Its good to see that somewhere on this album, something original would occur.

$2.20

15. Get The Fuck Back (Shawnna, I-20, and Fate Wilson) - Finally a fast paced song that was actually worth a damn. Here, the four artists do some cypher action as they give warning that they need to get the f' back, or else someone going to die tonight. This would be the best track on the album, but one of the artists on this track sounds like puberty just skipped the shit out of him.

$3.25

16. Freaky Things (ft. Jagged Edge and Twista) - First on Tim and Mag, and now here. Twista does till live...maybe he'll drop and album soon. Anyway, on this song Luda and Twista tag team back and forth on this freaky ass song where they talk about all the wild things they love..and those ATL singa's Jagged Edge come in with the hook. I love this song.

$3.75

17. Cold Outside (ft. Chimere) - Wow, its very rare that someone's album gets better the closer it gets to the end of it. Anwyay, on this song, Luda raps about how he tries to stay focused, but he can't trust anyone else but himself...cause its cold outside.

$4.00

18. Block Lockdown (ft. I-20) - On this track, Luda and I-20 rap about how those cats from the southside got the block on lockdown. To bad they couldn't hold this song down.

$1.00

The Best Tracks: The Last Word(s):

The first single indicates one of my worries about this album. There are virtually NO songs on here that would do well as a single. None, not one (aside from "Area Codes"). Seeing as how Ludacris's career is single based, that is going to make this album a lot harder to sale. If you're a die hard Luda fan, then grab this up. If, however, you like the songs that were released to radio. Stay away.

Album Worth:

$35.70

Album price: $14.99

  • #1. Cold Outside - This song just does it for me Rating: $4.00
  • #2. Freaky Things - I'm a freak ok. Rating: $3.75
  • #3. Get the Fuck Back - The best fast paced song, and its too vulgar to be released to radio. Rating: $3.25
  • #4. Growing Pains - Deep track, that I didn't think Luda was capable of. Rating: $3.20
